  • Surprisingly functional
Style: With Sewing Kit
I really wasn't expecting much from this compact sewing machine. I didn't realize it could run off four AA batteries. My first thought was, "Aww. It's adorable." I got it for very basic sewing tasks and so far it has worked amazingly well. It doesn't have an on/off switch, just a button that will turn it on (meaning it is now sewing) or you can use the foot pedal to do this. The issue with this is there is no way to turn it off so the foot pedal won't turn it on if you accidentally hit it, unless you unplug the pedal. I also miss having a reverse, but you can get around that somewhat by just spinning your work piece to get that overlapped seam. All that said, it works. It came with a sample piece of material under the foot that shows they sewed with it. That means it is adjusted out of the box for the right pressure and I got great seams on the 30' or so of sewing I needed to do. I think I'll order one for our granddaughter too. I do wish it had that reverse function though... If you just want a basic sewing machine for small tasks so you don't have to take out 'The Beast,' this is worth the price. ... show more

  • My 7 year old is going to LOVE this!
Style: Without Sewing Kit
My 7 year old has been getting into crafting often lately and she has been talking about wanting to sew and make her own pillows and such so I thought a sewing machine would be the best gift that I could find her for her birthday that is less than a week away. I did not want to get her a huge machine or spend a lot of money on one that she may not use a lot plus I have no idea how to use one myself so I though that this inexpensive beginners sewing machine would be the best bang for my buck at this point. I am super happy, it looks really awesome and even comes with a mini detachable table, foot pedal and spools of thread as well as a measuring tape and a book of instructions. The instructions being the MOST important part as I will be learning just as much as she was and we will be able to learn this together. The instructions are short and seem easy to follow which I really appreciate. It does come with a few (white and black) spools of thread but it doesn't come with any fabric so you will need to buy fabric as well as any thread if you need different colors. Very excited and trying to hold out on giving it to her early haha! ... show more

I’ve never used a sewing machine prior to this one. Everywhere is sold out of machines and I want to make face masks faster than by hand sewing. Pros Simple design, helps learn the anatomy of a sewing machine and how it works. Pre threaded out of the box. Got a chance to use before changing thread. Can handle 3 layer cotton fabric, great for sewing masks. Threading the bobbins was easier than I thought! Someone people didn’t like you had to do that for the top thread, but YouTube videos showed you can use your own spool of thread at the top, didn’t affect end result. Cons Very nervous that it’ll break after a couple of uses, thread tension and lightweight seem like it could be it’s downfall. No reverse so having to be creative to get the beginning and end stitch to stay put. The extension table is great but if you lean on it, it’ll collapse. Will update as I get more time to use it ... show more

  • Amazing Little Machine!
Style: Without Sewing Kit
I bought this machine so I could learn how to sew, I've never touched a sewing machine in my life. That being said, there is quite a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out this machine is amazing! It's so small and lightweight, but I've been able to make many masks, pajama shorts and even a baby blanket. I would recommend buying your own needles, it may have been just my lack of knowledge, but both the ones mine came with bent really easily. It comes with an extender table, a few bobbins (some with thread and some empty), a needle threader, and a foot peddle. I so far have not had any issues with the foot peddle, but I always make sure I'm barefoot so I can feel it and not stomp on it. My light works perfectly fine and is very useful. There are some great and easy to follow videos on YouTube that explain how to use and thread the machine. Overall, I feel like it's been worth the cost, it does have a decent learning curve if you've never used a machine before, but I honestly think it is very versatile and strong for how small it is. I do want to add in that this machine will ONLY do a straight stitch, and it does not backstitch. It also only has two speeds (which in my opinion is fast and very fast). This is just something to keep in mind if you are also learning. ... show more

The directions are jorrible. The tension won't stay set. The needle won't stay threaded. The extension table collapses constantly.

  • Love it!
Style: Without Sewing Kit
Just pulled it out of the box. So far it's working great. Had to adjust the tension a bit bc the bottom thread wasn't stitching correctly but it was an easy fix. I was very skeptical especially with the mixed reviews. But I sew & have a singer 9960, my 3y/o daughter said she wanted a real machine like mommy's... So I didn't wanna get her a toy one bc I want her to learn & be able to make real stuff.. I'm very surprised. I do wish it had a back stitch. I don't get the point of making a machine without a back stitch. Even if you had to turn the knob by hand, it would be better than no nack stitch at all.. Minor issue I suppose.. Anyway, I am missing the extra needle it claims you get but all in all everything looks great so far! ... show more
