  • Simply does not work! DO NOT BELIEVE YOU TUBERS!!!!!! UPDATE 13 Sept. 2023
Size: RV45S-48qt single zone
I bought the RV45S because it was marketed with anti-shake and that it would work with a 40º incline. I figured it would be great for camping....WRONG! I have been testing it in my garage during the hottest days we have had this summer since I bought it in August and comparing it to my Dometic CFX3 45 using two Jackery 500 explorers. Ambient temperature has averaged 94ºF inside the garage and I figured this is real life testing as I would use it strictly for my camping, fishing and hunting trips. I placed 4 one gallon jugs of water in the Setpower RV45S and the same on my Dometic CFX3 45. I set the temperature to zero as the Setpower RV45S only goes to zero whereas the Dometic goes to -7ºF The Setpower RV45S was drawing 53 watts max and was disappointed by my Dometic CFX 45 drawing 79 watts. The water temperature measured 90ºF and after 2 hours the water temperature measured 77º on the Setpower and 70º on the Dometic. The Setpower reading on the Jackery read 80% and the Dometic had dropped to 68%. After 4 hours the Setpower water was at 67ºF and the Jackery was at 56%. On the Dometic the water was at 58ºF and the Jackery was at 33%. I then plugged both Jackeries to AC power to charge them through the night as both would not last. After both were charged 100% I disconnected both Jackeries from the wall, both fridges were still running as the Jackeries have pass through charging. After 26 hours of running both refrigerators at zero, the Dometic had frozen all 4 gallons of water. The Setpower RV45S took 52 hours to freeze 3 jugs of water and one gal jug never froze after 96 hours. After 5 days the 4th jug finally froze . I then put the temperature on both refrigerators to 36º and the Jackery on the Setpower turned off. If the Jackery 500 senses a draw of less than 2 watts it will shut itself down after 10 hours, it is a power saving mode. The Jackery on the Dometic lasted 48 hours and had 3% before I turned it off. Ambient temperature that day was 90ºF inside the garage. The reason the Jackery shut down on the Setpower RV45S was not due to efficiency, the settings at 36º was actually waiting for the temperature to read 54º. The Jackery turned off twice and after 2 weeks of constant running the Setpower RV45S and the Dometic CFX3 45 on A/C power with both set at 36º the temperature on the Setpower RV45S reads 54ºF and the ice has thawed out whereas in the CFX3 45 the temperature inside reads 38º the ice is beginning to thaw but the Dometic has been turned off for 25 hours. My recommendation would be to not buy the Setpower RV45S and most important do not believe any of the you tube influencers that market this refrigerator. I will give an update about Setpower Company to see if their customer service is any good and see if I will have to go through hoops to get my refund. UPDATE 13 SEPT 2023, I received a return label from Setpower, and they expect me to pay for shipping. Cost for shipping the refrigerator back is $184+ change. A few days ago I get an email from Setpower stating that they had seen my review and that they were going to contact their R&D department and offered to refund me and make arrangement with FEDEX to pickup the unit at their cost. They wanted me to include my email, address, and phone# but then there were some contradictory issues on their form they had on the email. It stated not to include any physical information such as address, email and phone #. I go to the website and call and things just look and sound questionable, like a scam, but yet I received the fridge. I don't know if Amazon and or Setpower have been hacked now. I am so frustrated, I am just going to suck up the expense and never order from Setpower and Amazon, it is ridiculously difficult to return items and difficult to reach a person to handle situations like this. ... show more

  • Works very well and has the German cooling components
Size: RV45S-48qt single zone
Wrks well! Has the Danfoss guts for about half the cost as the ones that advertise they hav the Danfoss cooling component which uses about 1/4 the power as the Chinese cooling components. Thats important wen ur camping and running ur elec cooler from a battery power source much of the time

  • working well so far
Size: RV45S-48qt single zone
We have been using this fridge in our camper van for a week. It is sturdy and seems well made. Serves as a seat for us (160 lbs). There is approximately 7 degrees difference between the set temp and actual temp, on the warm side. this is not a problem, just a matter of adjustment. I set it up so the 12v connector could not be accidentally dislodged- a complaint by other reviewers. Interior space can store enough food for about 2 weeks. Will update this review if needed. This would be a 5 star review if the set temp was accurate and the 12v connector was more secure. ... show more

  • Solid cooler/fridge, more time needed to evaluate reliability.
Size: RV45S-48qt single zone
I wanted to make the switch from a cooler to 12vdc fridge so I started looking at my use cases, the majority of my trips are only 2 – 3 nights maximum with 2 – 4 people. The occasional 5 – 10 night trip is thrown in every now and then so I didn't want to spend a fortune on something that I wouldn't be constantly using. I do not have a battery pack (aka portable power station) so I plan to run the RV45 entirely off my vehicle. My first criteria was that the fridge had to perform (as an unpowered cooler) comparably to my current cooler, an Igloo MaxCold 38L. I couldn’t find any data on this so I decided to order the fridge and test myself. Both coolers were placed next to each other in my garage. I solidly froze 2 16.9oz water bottles and placed 1 in each cooler. Then I observed how the 2 bottles compared to each other at 6, 12, 24, and 30 hours. Pictures included. 6 hours: bottles are identical. 12 hours: RV45 bottle has melted slightly faster, difference looks be to 5% or less. 24 hours: RV45 bottle has a sliver of ice, MaxCold bottle is still 20% ice. 30 hours: Both bottles have no ice, the RV45 bottle is about ambient temperature, the MaxCold bottle is slightly cooler. This was a satisfactory result for me. If I were using the Igloo, I’d have to purchase more ice, dump out the water, and then refill it at around the 24-hour mark. With the RV45, I could just start up the vehicle and let it run to cool back down with no melted ice to worry about. Another criteria on my list was for the fridge to fit under the cargo cover of a 4th gen 4Runner (to prevent against car prowlers) and to open without having to remove the fridge from the vehicle. I wasn’t able to easily find dimensions while shopping. I measured the fridge after I received it, the overall dimensions (Length x Width x Height) are: 27” x 16” x 19” (closed) 27” x 17” x 33” (open). The RV45 does fit under the cargo cover and will fully open without having to remove it from vehicle. The last criteria would be build quality and reliability. I can’t really comment on either without more time using it. Will update review once I put it through its paces this upcoming summer. Peeking through the vents I did see that there is a HUAYI DL19H compressor inside. Included are 2 baskets, a cord that fits into the RV45 with a male cigarette lighter plug on the other end, and an AC to DC brick that goes from the wall outlet to automobile auxiliary power outlet. You just daisy chain both cords if you want to use it on AC power when at home or in a hotel. Moving forward for trips that are 24 hours or less I will continue to use my cooler with gel ice packs as it’s lighter and therefore easier to load/unload. For trips over 24 hours I will be using the RV45. If you need this by a certain date, order it well in advance. I had a long road trip planned and hoped to use this on that trip, so I paid extra for faster shipping. The fridge ships from Southern California, I live in Seattle. I placed an order for the fridge 10 days before my planned trip. The shipping label was created 3 days after I placed my order. The fridge was shipped 8 days after I ordered. FedEx delivered the fridge 13 days after I ordered. I had already left, so I had to have a friend receive the item for me while I was away. ... show more
