I live in a older house with the front yard enclosed so a regular doorbell is not practical (not without jackhammering up the front yard to run a under ground conduit). I had tried other wireless doorbells but the all used the 12volt A21 battery in the remote, which would loose sync to the base unit and run the battery down to nothing in a day or two trying to connect back to the base. this unit uses a 1.5 volt button cell battery (which I stock in bulk for other items) and will not disconnect from its paired base even after prolonged power outages. We are over 6 months now and the battery is still holding strong, we have had multiple power outages and many heavy rain storms yet this little guy just keeps on going. I would like to add another base unit for out upstairs patio area but I don't see the round base station being sold anymore. are the new square ones back compatible with the round units? ... show more
