Simple rules and quick play... Lots of luck but the game plays quickly so if you don't do well on your stroll along the shore, you're on to the next chance to score even more! Great pieces and the travel bag makes it highly portable!

This is a nice family game with excellent quality components. Not very deep, but can be played with young children, very thematic. Great to bring to the beach, Not much down time when you play. Many online videos on how to play.

    • A delightful push your luck game that can be both calm and exciting.
I had a lot of fun with this at two player with my wife. I think with more people it would be even better. The rules were a bit confusing as it seemed like we needed to make stacks, but that's really only for one type of face. Anyway, we were able to figure out our misunderstandings. I don't think I've played a push your luck game that has quite given me the kind of innervation this game gave me. In fact most nothing does. It's not a feeling I seek out. I have rarely gambled, and save for one run on a slot machine all my gambling experiences have been as rewarding and idly lighting my money on fire. But that one good run, I did get a bit of a rush from it and I could sort of see why people liked it. Anyway, still not a feeling I'm keen to seek out, but I enjoyed it with this. There was something exciting about greedily pulling tiles out and putting them into the ocean waiting, hoping, that I pulled one of the tokens I was looking for, or at least didn't get a tile with two beach faces that would get me nothing and end my turn, leaving a big pot in the center. The were other more shrewd turns to be had as well and paying attention to the end game was important. Overall I think it's a wonderful light push your luck game. The only criticisms I have of it is the instructions aren't portable and water resistant in the way the rest of the game is. And the instructions and rules themselves are ever so slightly unintuitive that adds a hiccup to a game that is delightful in its simple yet engaging gameplay. I appreciate the quality of the screen printed wooden tokens and canvas bag. It feels like there was a missed opportunity to maybe make the bag one of those that flattens out into a play surface, although the game doesn't really need one. ... show more

    • Simple relaxing game, great components, easy to learn, quick to play, fun theme
I really like this one! This is a pretty simple game where you simply draw a token from the bag, pick one of the side to activate, and resolve it. Some go in the sea and allow you to draw a new token, while others go to your personal seaside and provide various ways to score points. The rules are easy to understand and there's really only about 4 different token types you need to learn. Turns feel almost relaxing as you're just choosing from two different options, but there are some clever strategies at play so the choice is usually not super obvious. It feels like a neat mix of push-your-luck with scoring that reminds me a bit of Sushi Go - different creatures each score in different ways. The components themselves are really nice with chunky wooden discs and a nice canvas bag. I would usually poo poo a bag for game storage but it works well here and keep this super portable. It is a bit awkward to cram the rules in there, but that's usually because I always forget to do it before I put the discs back in :) The art is minimalistic but super cute and functional and helps create a great overall feel. So far I've only played solo and at 2 players. I feel like planning at 4-5 might be tough, but for something this light that's fine. 3 players might be the sweet spot, but I'm looking forward to trying this with more friends. Overall, I'm really happy with this. For a light quick game, it hits on a few mechanisms I really enjoy and the theme is great. ... show more
