  • Basic, functional roof racks.
Color: METALLIC
These are good enough for hauling heavy oak slabs on the roof of a Honda Accord. They're plenty strong for lumber hauling. Don't leave them on your car when it rains. The nylon straps impede the door seals and they will leak. That's not a flaw. It's just something that's inherent and unavoidable with this sort of design. Fortunately, they're secured with ratchet straps so it's quick and easy to remove and replace them whenever. The price is right and they're absolutely good enough for my purposes. ... show more

  • good quality but don't over-tighten!
these went on nicely and i felt very secure using to load up my bike or kayak (12 foot, 40-pound) on top of my Hyundai. i don't feel great driving 70mph+ on the highway as the kayak is long and wobbles a bit just due to the size, but the actual rack and crossbars don't budge! i feel great driving 40-50 mins uphill to the nearby lake, and very confident driving any distance or speed with bicycles. the bars, rack and straps really don't budge. however, i believe i effectively over-tightened the ratchet straps to the point of the metal bending, and failing on one of the ratchets. i figured tighter is better, and would routine try with all my might to tighten the ratchets further. this was a bummer as i was stranded about an hour from home with a kayak. however, the front held just fine while driving slowly. i got a new ratchet and tie-down to replace it, but the originals would be a better fit. hoping to get a replacement from the manufacturer, but be warned: tighter is not always better! the ratchets are very strong and secure, and tightening to the limit of your abilities is not necessary and can in fact damage the tool. Also the bars aren't super thick. i haven't had a problem mounting anything on top yet, but it's not going to be as thick as most of the Subaru/factory-type bars you see on sportier vehicles. i have had to tighten J bars pretty tight. ... show more

  • This literally made me love my car again
I drive an old 2009 Pontiac G6 Sedan. For years it's been a great little car, but as far as moving anything bulky around? Forget it. As time went on it really started to annoy me everytime I needed to move something that "just" wasn't big enough to fit and not being able to. Then I found this freakin amazing kit!!! I went with the soft "foam" style and its transformed my car into something completely new. For $50 I can now haul my kyak and fish whenever I feel like it. Just today I hauled a dishwasher for a friend (although that was admittingly a bit janky, not so sure I'd recommend you do that too...but it did work!!!) This is a ridiculously good investment, and I cant believe I just found out it exists. The only negative I can come up with is that the threading is starting to wear out from extended use but it's a minor thing ... show more

  • Confident safety
Color: METALLIC
This product was easy to assemble and fit well on my car. It is sturdy and my car top carrier attached easily a securely. There was some whistling noise, but that was expected.

  • Cheap and flimsy - wouldn't trust it to hold anything
I wanted to love this. I have a naked roof surface on my vehicle so this was appealing so I wouldn't have to fool around with installing a REAL roof rack. The price seemed right and looked relatively low tech to use so I gave this a try. I was planning to use it to haul a 40LB duffle bag tent on top, but I don't think I would even trust this flimsy and cheaply made "rack" to hold even that. The most troubling components were the feet/towers that are supposed to hold the bars in place. They were made hollowed out, and the pads (which sit directly atop your roof) were sooo thin; think like a flexible silicone type material. I could easily cut any part of feet/towers with an exact-o knife. No thank you, this thing seems dangerous. If you have a naked roof you'd be much better off taking the time to track down an old Yamika roof rack (from the 90s?) - plenty of them still around on the second hand market (Re-rack, Facebook Market Place, Craigslist). Purchase 1. Q-Towers (to hold the bars in place) 2. Round bars (they come in 48-66" sizes mostly, you can easily cut down to the width you want). 3. Clamps - you can go on Yamika.com to put your vehicle model in and the website will tell you which size you need. Again, you can get the clips from Amazon/Ebay/Re-rack, etc.). Don't bother with this "China Cheapie". ... show more

  • Decent product

  • Seems to be good enough for most requirements.
Color: METALLIC
These racks seem to be good enough for occasional use for kayaks, bikes, etc.. I haven't used them yet but the main complaint I read about is that the rubber pads literally fall off the rail standoffs. A bit of clear Gorilla Glue will solve that permanently. BEFORE you use the glue though, thread the straps through the standoff as you may need access via the opening that the rubber pads cover. I plan a 5 hours drive to the Florida panhandle with two 11' kayaks on these racks and don't anticipate any issues. A bit concerned about the roof paint on the car as the rubber pads are thin. I'll just have to make sure there is NO movement when traveling. ... show more
