  • Beautiful Guitar!
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
Fantastic instrument! Looks, plays, and sounds like those high-end axes that celebrities/legends play--given to them by makers of elite instruments--to promote and sell high $$ equipment. Yes, a musician can pull music from a wreck. I've heard it. With my own ears. But a hack/novice can't pull sound from a fine instrument. Schecter bridges the gap. I'm 50, have had 1-3 guitars (some cheapos) at a time since 1973; acoustic, semi-acoustic, solid body electric, and handled some of the "finest" money could buy. I still have my Epiphone FT-120 I bought new in 1977. I'm no musician by a long shot, but this Schecter is one of the 'friendliest' I've had the pleasure of spending time with. I returned a Damien (more for metal w/ DMG pickups) I liked for this one. Coupled with a Line 6 Spider IV 15 watt amp, the sounds you can get is a blast. The Floyd Rose "licensed" locking trem takes a little patience to set up, but is fine w/me. It gives the guitar that much more of a custom fit for you. Out of the box, it was near spot on, and near in tune (new strings stretch and go flat daily, depending on your aggression and string guage, etc... stretch 'em when you install 'em!). Finish is eye-popping w/quilted maple sunburst, and I love the look. Makes me want to play it as often as I can. All said... If your a hobby player, BUY THIS GUITAR. If your a paid pro or just plain wealthy, BUY one of THESE, have a blast, and save wear and tear on your name brand rig(s). At this price range, Schecter offers a don't pass gift. ... show more

  • Purchase somewhere else.
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
When I recieved the guitar the packaging was was sufficient. When I opened it the metal volume knob was off and had been scratching the guitar finish. One of the strings is also broken by the tuning peg. Other than that the guitar functions properly.

  • Great Guitar!
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
I am extremely happy with this purchase, it was a great deal! Thanks Amazon! This guitar is astounding! The paint and inlay are absolutely beautiful! The craftsmanship that was put into this guitar is that which you would expect from a manufacturer whose guitars costs hundreds, if not thousands of dollars more. It came with the action set perfectly, although I am going to have to pull a couple of springs off of the Floyd Rose and re-set it up to my preferences. The Schecter hardware is great, although I would have preferred to have the active SMG pickups. The intonation is great, and most importantly, it feels great in my hands. I actually bought this guitar from Amazon, after returning an vastly inferior Fender Stratocaster. Right out of the box I knew that piece of junk Fender would be on the next UPS truck back to Amazon. I have never felt so ripped-off buying a guitar in my life, and will Never buy another Fender product again. With the money I saved after returning the Fender and purchasing the Schecter, I was also able to buy a Schecter case as well. Right now, the guitar sits in it's case among my collection waiting for me to find the time to re-set it up to my preferences. It is my show piece. Everytime somebody comes over, I have to pull it out and impress them with it's beauty and quality. And they are impressed. Now by oldest brother wants one in a 7-string configuration.... ... show more

  • Great guitar, if you want a Floyd Rose
Color: Black Cherry Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
When you get this guitar, you will have to adjust the action, because it is set up to be far too low. But this is easy to do - there are two hex screws at the side of the Floyd Rose, and you just turn each counter-clockwise while hitting the relevant E string, until the you can hit it fairly hard without any fret buzz. Even after doing this, the action is significantly lower than most other guitars. Obviously you will have to re-tune afterwards, which can be a bit of a chore with the Floyd Rose. The guitar came with the necessary hex keys, which is a pleasant surprise.Once I did this, the guitar played great, and dive bombs on the tremolo didn't put it out of tune (with new strings, even). The pickups are passive, but loud, and as good as you will find at this price point. The tone knob is push/pull to split the humbuckers. The finish on the neck is very thin, which gives your left hand a good connection to the string vibrations, and the larger neck size makes this good for shredding (if that's your thing). All in all this is a great guitar, especially for the money. Speaking of money - if you feel you don't need any tremolo at all, you can get the Omen Extreme (no "FR") for significantly less cash. It's the same guitar otherwise, so it would be my recommendation for people who do all their bending with their fingers. ... show more

  • BAD ASS GUITAR
Color: See-thru Black Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
I love it! I added an EVH D-Tuna for instant drop D tuning and back to E...... Works great, sounds great, and PLAYS GREAT!!! I'll be purchasing more Shecter guitars for sure. I have 14 guitars, a mandolin, a keyboard, 9 harmonicas, a Kalimba, and a cello. I've been playing music for over 30 years. I love this guitar. ... show more

  • Missing parts, pickups suck
Color: Vintage Sunburst Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
Looks and plays nice for the price. Had to do a set up out of the box but not bad. Only issue was it was missing the tremolo bar screw that holds the whammy bar in place. So add new stings and a new bar to the final price. Also after a day or two I ordered some Seymour Duncan Invader Pickups, the stock pickups dound very muffled like as if I'm switched to the neck pickup all the time ... show more

  • Just not a quality guitar
Color: See-thru Black Style: OMEN EXTREME-6 FR
After playing on this guitar for a few months, I'm extremely dissatisfied with the sound of this guitar. It sounds like the tone is muffled constantly, no matter how I have the tone knob turned.....tried different amps and settings but all have that same sound, like the bass is turned WAY up. Nothing seems to clear up the sound. Could just be a characteristic of Schecter guitars in which case I'm not a fan. It's too late to return it so I'll just sell it or trade it. Schecter is definitely NOT worth the $500+ price tags they come with. ... show more
