    PRELUDE: Let me start off by saying I've never owned a Schecter, I've never even PLAYED a Schecter until I purchased this one. I already have a Gretsch 5420T and a Fender Strat. I wanted something a little more aggressive, but not a one trick EMG pony. Having said that, I didn't know what to really expect. I had an Epiphone SG a long time ago, and recently repurchased one. I just never could click with it, and Les Pauls just sounded sooo generic to my ears. LOOKS: Great, clean lines, I have the white one. The black lines and inlays are all immaculate. The contours of the body are a nice touch, and the finish is spotless. FEEL: Again, it feels amazing. The finish is smooth, no problems there. The fret work is OKAY. It has a little room for improvement, some edges are still a little rough. Not enough to catch a string on, but I may end up filing them a little bit. The neck is amazing. I honestly think it may be my favorite neck I've ever played on. Smooth, JUST thick enough, while not being too heavy. Frets are nice and thick, so you really get a sense for where your fingers are. The strap locks are meh, but cheap and easy to replace if you care. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the volume, tone, and pickup switch placement. Again, best I've ever dealt with. I like really throwing my arm around, and I can't stand accidentally smacking my switch or not being able to get to my knobs easily when I need them. PLAYS: It's a very nicely balanced guitar. I like that the neck doesn't dive on it. The body has enough wood that it sustains for days while still being comfortable for long periods of time. If you've ever worn a les paul on your shoulder for 5+ hours straight you'll know this is a big deal. SOUND: Fat, thick, ballsy, unique. It's kind of a like a les paul, meets a P90 traditional and they made a baby for the sound. You can get great searing lead tones, while dialing back brings in a very nice balanced clean. The pickups are hot, don't get me wrong. Not so much that you can't play a jazz lick with this guitar, but even on a super clean channel on my amp, you crank this guitar up you're going to get a little distortion. I like it better than the SG, it has more character and IMO more balanced tonal output. Les Paul's will do better if you need a gut wrenching bass kick, but this I think brings a better mid punch for solo's. OVERALL: If you are looking for a sub 500$ guitar, just buy this. Don't go looking at something else. Seriously, stop it, buy this one now. If you have 1000+ to spend, there are certainly better options. But, this thing was 300 at the time of this post. I set it up myself, gigged it next day, and had tons of really positive feedback on all accounts. I just may be a Schecter convert. ... show more

    There is something special about this guitar. First off, it has a really nice weight to it. The satin finish on the body is what really sets it apart from the glossy versions, in my opinion. It gives the guitar such a better look. The neck feels great. And I mean great. Very smooth feeling when you're playing and running your hand down the length of it. The pickups are ok, I think they are meant to be changed anyway. They do sound great with the right amp though. The inlays look dope, no complaints there. The head stock is nice too. The knobs are fine, the tone knob gives some variety for your sound, and the volume knob is simply that. No coil tap ability but that's fine. The strings go through the body, as can be seen in the pictures. It's a nice touch, and it does increase sustain. Obviously this is not something to rival the very expensive ones. But with the right upgrades, it has a really good chance to do so. I will definitely be keeping this one. UPDATE: It has been about 9 months now that I have had this guitar. I still love it. Ended up changing the strings to 11s (Ernie Ball Power Slinky). For metal those strings just work better in my opinion. None of the guitar parts have come loose or apart. The inlays still look good as new. I was a little worried when I first got it that the headstock would break. This is because it is set at a slight angle compared to say a Strat-style guitar. I've traveled around with it in a hard case and softer gig bag, and so far no problems. However, I do treat my guitars as if they are my babies so that plays a big part. I still have no complaints about this guitar. The only thing I would change are the pickups but I get the sound I want by adjusting the amp settings, so it's not a big issue for me.
