Description

A lightweight, versatile personal filtration system, the Sawyer MINI Water Filter fits in the palm of your hand and has a total field weight of just 2 ounces. Perfect for everything from camping with the kids to traveling abroad where tap and bottle water can't be trusted, the tiny MINI provides 0.1 micron absolute filtration for clean drinking water on the go — filtering out bacteria, protozoa, and microplastics. The MINI filter removes 7 log (99.99999%) of all bacteria (like Salmonella) as well as other harmful bacteria which causes Cholera, Leptospirosis, and E. coli and 6 log (99.9999%) of all protozoa such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium (independent testing laboratory Hydration, LLC.; microbiological report S05-03). EPA guidelines allow ten times more protozoa left in the water than Sawyer MINI filters allow. The MINI also filters out 100% of microplastics. The MINI 0.1 micron absolute filter houses a cluster of micro-fibrous tubes which use similar technology found in medical dialysis. As water passes through the side walls of the tubes, harmful bacteria and protozoa are trapped on the outer walls so you can be confident your water is safe to drink. Great for outdoor recreation, hiking, camping, scouting, domestic and international travel, and emergency prepping, the Sawyer MINI gives you a number of ways to access clean water. Attach it to the included drinking pouch, use the included straw to drink directly from your water source, connect it to hydration pack tubing (sold separately), or screw it onto standard disposable bottles (28mm thread). Sawyer Products has offered the best, most technologically advanced solutions for protection against sun, bugs, water, and injuries – everything from first aid kits developed for wilderness to point-of-use water filters that filter contaminated water to levels cleaner than U. S. bottled water.

  • Works great
Color: Orange Size: 1-Pack Pattern Name: Filter w/ Pouches
I brought it to a trip to the Canadian Rocky Mountains (Jasper, Banff, Yoho, Glacier, Revelstoke). I use this to filter the glacier water. It is the best water that I have ever tasted in my entire life. Totally worth it. The glacier might already be drinkable, but I don't want to risk catching milliion-year old virus. This filter give me peace of mind. It is easy to use and very light and compact to carry in my backpack. ... show more

  • Works great to directly fill soft flasks
Color: Orange Size: 1-Pack Pattern Name: Filter w/ Pouches
I used the Sawyer Mini on an all day thru hike, where I only had a running vest with limited storage. The Sawyer mini worked great, I did the hack where I chopped off half an inch of straw, and used that to connect the mini directly to my Salomon soft flask, by removing the rubber nipple from the flask. I was able to squeeze water directly into the flask, then give the soft flask a small squeeze at the end to back flush, without using the syringe. It's an elegant and minimalist solution, love it. If you want to fill a soft flask directly, it's critical you use a piece of the straw to connect the mini to the flask. You can fill a soft flask without the straw, but it doesn't mate perfectly so it's harder to hold, and you cannot back flush. The straw hack is key. ... show more

  • Great Size and Quality
Color: Orange Size: 1-Pack Pattern Name: Filter w/ Pouches
Great unit and really versatile for such a small size. I always carry two different types of purifiers and I really like the ease of use and size of this kit. Very lightweight and can be used as a straw or to fill bottles or other containers with no bad taste. Comes with large syringe for back flushing. I’m going to get another one for my wife (yeah I know I’m such a romantic guy:-)) and one for the survival kit. Great little unit at a great price !! ... show more

  • Not perfect, but it does it's job at an affordable price and light weight.
Color: Orange Size: 1-Pack Pattern Name: Filter w/ Pouches
I've used this filter on many backpacking trips and it does a fantastic job of turning nasty water into drinkable water. I've pulled some water out of nasty green puddles and the Sawyer Mini did a good job of making it clear, though slightly yellowish in color, and the taste was good, though slightly mineral-ish. Main thing is, though, that I didn't get sick and it wasn't off to the point that I didn't want to drink it. I also really like that this filter is compact and lightweight compared to others. My buddy has a filter that is much faster at filtering water, but it is 3 times the weight. To me, the slower filtering is worth the trade off in weight savings considering the final quality of water is similar. My only real complaint is about the bag. When you submerge it in water the bag collapses so I take along an extra half-liter water bottle marked as "dirty" to submerge in water to fill the bag for filtering. It also feels like it will not last long. ... show more

  • Excellent filter weighs practically nothing
Color: Orange Size: 1-Pack Pattern Name: Filter w/ Pouches
I reviewed this on REI.com where I bought mine, but I thought I'd paraphrase it here also. I recommend this. It weighs practically nothing, can be backwashed, and is rated to process 100,000 gallons of water. I used mine in British Columbia for fresh water on the mainland and islands with brackish sources with bad taste and ugly color. The filter does not remove salt from seawater. It makes the water biologically safe to drink, but does not remove bad taste nor ugly color, but then again, it doesn't claim to. It comes with a lightweight, collapsible plastic bottle that is used to collect the water, and the filtration occurs as the water is squeezed out, or sucked out through a straw. It's a good system, but for my uses the plastic bag/bottle is just too small. The filter fits any standard water bottle, including the grocery store variety, so it isn't difficult to find a larger bottle that fits. My preference is a two liter bottle manufactured in Israel by "Source" (available on Amazon) for use by the Israeli army. The Source bottles are available in a variety of sizes, also weigh virtually nothing, are collapsible, and are said to be made of plastic material whose purity properties are equivalent to glass, and are therefore kosher. Sawyer makes other configurations of this filter for use inline on hydration packs and in gravity powered hanging situations. As far as I'm concerned, everything that Sawyer markets is high quality and dependable, so for the price and convenience of this filter, you could afford to discard the included bottle and buy a larger one. I believe Sawyer offers a larger bottle, priced separately. Everything you need to backwash the filter in the field (a large syringe) is included. All you need that is not provided is an extremely tiny stuff sack to carry it in. After using this, you'd never go back to a heavy pump filter with hoses and apparatus. ... show more
