  • this is a cool camera! Fantastic price for all the features
Dang, this is a cool camera! Fantastic price for all the features. And I already had some Samsung glass to use with it. So this camera made a lot of sense to me. Given rumors that Samsung is getting out of the camera business (or at least the interchangeable lens camera business), and the fact that this is an older camera, this may not be the right purchase for everyone. But I'm thrilled with it. Image quality rocks. Selection of features is great. I LOVE the articulated viewfinder. This one feature seems at first to be a gimmick. But the moment you pull it out, and can out the camera to your eye and not have your nose hit the camera, you see how cool it is. And to be able to tilt it up, so you are looking down into the camera, really makes the 'odd angle' shots a easier. I researched hard before ordering this camera. I had a limited budget, and had some Samsung glass already (not a huge deal). I would have had to pay way more to move into the Canon or Nikon camps. Their entry level DSLR cameras do not come even close to matching the features of this Samsung, and would have been more expensive to boot. I would have had to move to the mid-level Canon or Nikon to get the same features, with the added cost, and having eventually to replace some glass I already have. Yes, Samsung makes newer, and even better cameras - the nx500 and nx1. But for my needs, these were overkill (and I wanted the evf the nx500 did not have). So this camera is perfect for me. The sample photos were all taken with the kit 18-55mm lens. Which does pretty well for a kit lens. ... show more

  • Amazing Camera!
Just so you know, I'm reviewing this camera from being owner of a Canon Rebel SL1, Canon Rebel T3i, Canon Rebel XTI, Canon G16, Nikon DX40 and Nikon D3300 I bought this camera just a couple of days ago and I am impressed. It's just as good, and maybe even better then other major camera brands, I would have to say it is a very close competitor to Sony mirror less cameras. First off let's talk about the bad. I could only find a few things in this category. 1. The display lags in low light, and it does the same on the EVF, I didn't find this to be a big problem but it can cause your eyes to be at a strain. 2. If you are shooting at night the noise at high ISO's such as 1600-3200 will nearly kill an Astro Photographers dream, the noise reduction at this level isn't good. I found it to remove the majority of detail, and give the photo a somewhat oily look. Now let's talk about some of the good stuff! 1. The image quality is superb up to ISO-600. The image quality is good at ISO-800 to 1600 2. Good quick focus in good daylight, to somewhat lowlight. 3. The back tilt/swivel screen is great, and rich with color and lots of detail. I had no problem viewing the screen outside in the sunlight, just not direct sunlight. 4. The EVF is good and it tilts which is a major plus for those who shot macro, and have to get low to the ground this will be a great helpful feature. 5. The camera body is nice, a feels very solid. I olso had no problem holding on to the camera with on hand. I hope this review helps! ... show more

  • Zero Stars!!!!!!
I purchased this camera early July 2015 here on Amazon. I treated that camera like a baby and kept it in a camera case, and maintained it well. I used it for my first ever photography class that ended a couple weeks ago and today (12-6-2015) I tried to use it and it has completely stopped working. It is like a big paper weight that I spent over $500 for. This was the first Samsung product I have ever purchased and if I am unable to get it repaired or replaced by them then they will never ever ever get anymore of my business. _____________________________________________ Here is an update to the review from 2015. Today ( 7-13-2018 ) my camera has stopped working for the second time. I was previously able to get it repaired under the 1 year manufacturer warranty but I'm almost sure that I can't do that again. I'm really dissappointed because I just found out that Samsung NO LONGER PRODUCES STAND ALONE CAMERAS. They got out of this market in 2017. Hind site is 20 / 20 and I know now that I should have invested in one of the SONY products. I had not been using my camera very often and the only thing I can say is that you had better make sure that if you have a Samsung camera you better never let it be in temperatures near 80 degrees or higher. Some how I think this shorts out the power switch mechanism because this is the 2nd time this camera has completely stopped working. All I can do is charged the battery in it right now. Samsung should at least put out some type of a series that shows how to repair their cameras. ... show more

  • Something has to be wrong with my camera.
So far I've had very bad luck with this camera. This is my first non-Canon in a long time. It works great outdoors, but I have had horrible results with indoor photos. And I updated the firmware to the most recent version. First issue was that the flash didn't work. So I worked with customer service to get that fixed. It was supposed to take about five days, but I didn't get the camera back for three weeks, with zero communication from the company to keep me in the loop. I kept calling them and each time it was like they had no information on the whole progress of my repair. The color and light is way off. This was all in auto mode, to make sure I wasn't doing anything to mess up the settings. Then I manually set the white balance and it did a little better, but still not colors close to true to life. A few of the pictures I would take, in a perfectly lit room, the view on the screen would look perfect as it took the picture and then the picture would look like it had been taken in the dark. I really hope to figure out what is wrong and update this review later saying it works great. Several months later and I'm still disappointed in the indoor photos. I have to do a lot of work on the photos afterwards to get them to look decent. ... show more
