We tried two cheaper model coo coo clocks. BOTH were defective. This one, made in Germany, was WELL WORTH the little bit more we paid. They took a lot of time making very good details, and hand packed each pieces separately. It comes with a gold seal of inspection, and the persons name who did the quality control inspection. We were very impressed. I am still working to learn how to set the chime to work on the right hour, bur its quality, workmanship and beauty are significant . Very refreshing to see such quality these days. We would buy another one in the future... ... show more

Have not wound yet because it's a present, but looks solid. Could have bought $20 cheaper directly from German vendor but shipping would have probably cost more and we got it quicker through Amazon.

My father is 100% German , he owns 4 real (chain pull to wind) cuckoo clocks and even he approved of this one when he saw it. If you want a cuckoo clock and can't afford a real one (they go between $2,000-4,000) then this is a great buy, took me less then 5min to set up and hang. If I'm being honest the physical object looks better then in the pictures especially the owl. I realize there are cheaper ones on Amazon but break a buck and buy this one instead, trust me. ... show more
