The motion part of it is very effective at waking up my deep sleeper of a son but after 8 months the clock stopped working properly. It still keeps time but the display on the minutes is messed up when you try to set the alarm time. It constantly looks like the letter J instead of a number. Also it is impossible to turn Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 off. I can get it to stop alarming but it will go off every morning even if I don't want it to. UPDATE. This alarm clock is great. it's bright and the adjustments for brightness and alarm volume are a wonderful feature. The projection is perfect. My only gripe is that it was shipped in a flimsy and thin envelope. When I opened it the box was beat up pretty good and I braced myself for having to deal with a return. Fairly easy to set up, and set the time. I'm not jazzed about it using a USB type plug in, but it comes with a wall adapter to plug the USB in, so it's okay. The projector works mostly as described, though the numbers are surrounded by a circle of very low level light, so the numbers aren't just smoothly on the surface. Obviously, you can only see this projection at night. The bonus is that it acts as a nightlight, as well. Must be plugged in, so that may limit your ability to project time where you want it.

Since purchasing this alarm clock, my son hasn't not gotten up for school. Previously he was using the alarms on his cell phone and when it was time for him to be downstairs we'd yell up and he would say the alarm never went off or he fell back asleep after turning it off. That doesn't happen anymore - we can hear the beeping downstairs in the kitchen and the bed-shaker vibrating on the bed or floor. He's gotten up everyday since we put this in his room. The projection feature is great, the different levels of display brightness are great...the only improvement that would be nice is for the projection display to be rotatable so you could have the clock positioned how you want it and have the projected display exactly perpendicular to how you lay in bed. It has two positions - normal or inverted, but not rotatable other than that. Still giving it 5 starts for it's effectiveness and other features. ... show more
