This was my first DIY attempt at removing an awning from a camper and installing a new one. Our old one was about 4 years old and had some tears and holes and needed replaced. We needed a 15’ replacement awning and this was the exact same size as our old one. This comes with three full lengths of plastic stiffener tubing that you slide into the pleats so that it mounts securely onto the RV and onto the awning armature. It also comes with instructions, however the instructions apply to an older style camper with a manual awning. Our camper has a motorized awning setup so the instructions didn’t really apply. The mounting bracket and hardware on my camper is all made by Lippert. They have a very nice video on YouTube with step by step instructions on removal and assembly of the awning. I watched this video 2-3x and had it figured out how to complete the replacement process. My camper has LED lights that mount to the awning right by the camper connection. The awning I removed had a second pocket for the stiffener tubing to go into. This replacement awning only has one pocket that is about 2” wide so I was able to fit two stiffener tubes down into it and mount the lights on one and mounted the awning to the camper with the other. While sliding the awning onto our camper the lighting tubing came out of the pocket about 2/3 of the way down the awning. Fortunately this kit comes with a plastic “pizza wheel” that I was able to use to push the awning material and stiffener back into channel and secure the light strip into place. Overall, the entire process took about 2 hours and I definitely recommend having at least 3 people for the job. We absolutely love the coloring of our new awning. Our old awning was solid black and very hot. We like that this is white and blue. The only bad part about this awning is the material does not have a finished edge at the end of the awning. You can see in the one picture I posted that there are strings of fabric on the unfinished edge. Would have been better if it had been folded over and stitched. My father's camper sustained damage a while ago, in the Midwest these winds can really do a job. His trailer is 17' and so I began my search for one that the entire family could enjoy this summer. The prior awning had tears in the material, which deemed it unusable. I was lucky to find this pretty "Blue Slate" Camper awning. The material used is a strong and durable Vinyl. The material is thick and substantial. I reviewed the contents of this package and all was there and in very good condition. This awning has an almost ombre appearance. The blue with the base white, the blending- excellent decision by the designer. I'm very much loving the visual appeal of this now. Below, I will list some of the other features that led me to pick this one. *Design: Premium Vinyl-Canopy/Awning - 17' in total - Universal fit - Variety of sizes *Function: this performs very well. We did not have any water leakage even after a hard rainfall the other night. *Sizes: they offer a 15/16/17 and 18' awning for the 17' one, the fabric is less and is 16.2' which makes sense *Triple layered awning fabric- thick and resilient to inclement weather *UV protection built in *Construction: they used a process called "high frequency welding" which ensures the unit is solid and free from defects or damage *Dimensions for your reference on this 17' one I received 26.3 x 17.3 x 4.3 inches with a weight of 16.81 lbs All in all, yes- this is a quality Camper awning. Very durably made- will withstand most inclement weather. Also, I did not encounter any issues of defects or damage on this unit. The vinyl is nice and thick and you get the piping and a piping tool also. The sides are raw, not hemmed. That is a little disappointed considering the price but on the other hand, if it is too wide you could easily cut it down to size. It comes with instructions for installing. My old awning for my Travel Trailer had simply worn out and I was concerned about finding a reasonably priced durable replacement. I came across this awning and am glad I did. The fabrics used are great quality, well-stitched, and have vibrant colors. I was amazed at how easy it was to do the replacement and that all I would need to complete the installation was included in the package. It took me all of 30 minutes and was able to do it all by myself, but having a second person is advisable. The awning is quite durable and high quality. It does an excellent job of providing shade and protection from rain. It rolls up and extends in the hardware smoothly and have not experienced any issues with its use. It is also very easy to clean and keep that way. Living in Florida, I experience heavy thunderstorms frequently with fairly high wind and gusts, and never felt the need to retract it as it performs quite well during storms. I would not try that if I was facing a Hurricane or extremely high wind storm, but I do not panic if I forget to retract before I leave or if a surprise storm forms while I am out. This is a great replacement awning for Travel Trailers and RVs that should work great for you as long as you measure correctly for the proper fit. Very pleased with it. ... show more
