  • Worked great for older cast iron gas stove / fireplace...
Had to replace the thermocouple in our 1990's Lennox cast iron gas stove/fireplace and while I had it torn apart, I chose to replace the fiberglass gasket for the front glass. This product worked great to hold the gasket in a fixed position on the metal frame so it wouldn't move around when placing the front glass assembly back on the stove. Just be careful when applying and pay close attention to where you use it so it doesn't show when everything is reassembled. I also used it to form a gasket for the pilot assembly after I replaced the thermocouple... a small bead of this adhesive was used around the bottom edge of the 1.5" X 3.0" pilot assembly mounting plate. I was really pleased that a small, resealable squeeze tube container was available since I used sparingly and have quite a bit left over. ... show more

  • It works well but I'll need to buy another tube next year
This stuff is indispensable when you need it but it tends to harden in the tube over a fairly short period of time so another tube will have to be bought the next time I need it. I guess that's just the nature of this adhesive.

  • Knead tube REALLY well and cut tip smaller than indicated by line.
I don't know if the tube of product was old or what but this stuff flowed out a lot thinner and faster than I expected. It is hard to knead the tube prior to cutting it open due to the positive air pressure in the tube. I got the job done and the gasket is holding...but I didn't have a lot of confidence in the process of laying out the goop as it did not lay as a "bead" of caulk would, it kinda mushed out and into the door's notch. Seems like a used a lot more than instructed due to the thin product and rate of flow. ... show more

  • CAUTION: VERY WATERY CEMENT
In replacing pellet stove door gasket, best to remove door and place it on a flat cardboard covered surface to work, i.e. cleaning gasket channel, applying cement and placing the new gasket rope. This gasket cement is EXTREMELY WATERY so having the door laying flat is important. rather than working with the door still on the stove. Squirt a bead of the cement out of the nozzle into the gasket channel, then use the tip of the tube's nozzle to run the liquid SLOWLY through the gasket channel on the pellet stove door. Wipe away any cement that overflows out of gasket channel. You only need a thin film of the cement, so don't let it pool up in the gadget channel. Jam the dampened gasket rope into the channel, so it almost bunches up on itself, rather than stretching the rope out. YOU WANT THE GASKET ROPE TO PROTRUDE OUT OF THE CHANNEL, TO WORK AS A SEAL! Follow instructions on the tube regarding set time and cure time. Damn that was easy! ... show more
