We went camping 2 adults, a teenager, a child and a dog. We utilized all three rows of our SUV and could only fit the two coolers in the trunk. We installed the hooks inside the door seal. Stretched out the bag out unzipped but with the flap still shut. Laid it across the top of the SUV, lifted the flap/lid open and filled it up. Once filled we zipped it, bucked the clips and tightened the straps. Easy peasy. Zipper is heavy duty and the bag seems durable. It rained overnight and no water got into our car (from having the buckle hooks there) or inside the bag since it was zipped. It fit our Toyota Highlander perfectly and could be used on a small car too. Very universal product. Contents included: 4 camping chairs, a paddleboard (inflatable of course), a 10person tent, 4 single inflatable camping mattresses, 4 sleeping sheets (it was 98*), two 14” fans, two cast iron pans and miniature propane grill, toys, clothes, lanterns, and all other simple camping supplies.     • Great alternative to a roof storage box!

I bought this for a short road trip we took this weekend in our 2014 Infiniti QX80. I was on the fence on buying a hard, fixed roof storage box or a tow hitch storage platform. I decided to go this route and don't regret it. It held our stuff perfectly! We traveled in two vehicle for a total of 9 people...so we had a lot of stuff. The 28 cubic foot size was perfect; as we had an assortment of stuff; including 2 carry-on bags, several handbags, boxes of food, blankets, jugs of water, clothing, cleaning supplies, and lots of loose items. I was surprised that none of the stuff shifted around...not even the loose items! It rained during the whole trip and nothing was wet! The straps were really strong. I drove from 80-100MPH down the highway and it did not budge. I used 6 of the 10 straps during the trip. You could occasionally hear the unused straps tap the roof of my truck in the wind. You can feel slight wind resistance because of the change in aerodynamics but it did not make significant wind noise. The straps did not loosen at all. I must say that the center straps are a tad too short. They barely reached the buckle. I strapped the bag to my roof rails. I did not use the included hooks that go under the weather stripping. The 3 inner bags included are trash though. They are made of cheap, thin materials and the zippers were already broken when I opened the box. But I don't care about those as they are impractical anyway. I highly recommend this product if you want a large, removable storage solution for your vehicle. ... show more

We got this one to replace our previous rooftop bag. When I first opened it I thought it was going to be too small. It wasn’t. It expands big! Of course on the first day of our trip it started pouring down rain. It kept our stuff clean and dry! Not even any damp spots. I was a little hesitant because of some of the negative reviews, but I have no idea why anyone would give this any less than five stars. It was super easy to strap down. We do have a rack and a roof mounted aluminum carrier which keeps it from moving and gives you a ton of strapping options. The zippers have molded rubber to keep the rain out. I would recommend this to anyone who uses a travel bag for their luggage. ... show more

    • Absolutely worth every penny!
Size: 23 Cubic feet
This is a solid piece of kit. Performs beyond my expectations. Very solidly built, thick canvas. Strong straps that work perfectly with the luggage rack on our 2011 Tahoe. Zipper is sturdy and protected under overhanging flap that secures on three sides via velcro tab. Top flap seals on three sides with fourth integrated with main body of bag. We were able to easily fit 2 large suitcases, 2 carryon sized cases, 2 small/medium duffle bags, 2 suit bags folded in half and still had a bit of room leftover. Straps emanate from all four sides of the bag and are equipped with 3 prong locking clasps. Straps can be tightened by pulling thru clasps and once done hold the bag and contents very securely to roof of vehicle. If u dont have a luggage rack, the bag comes with clasps that fit and feed under rubber door seals. We traveled from central Illinois to Beaufort, SC, from plains thru foothills and into Smoky Mountains then down into Carolina lowlands and eventually to coast. Tho not deluged, it did rain intermittently throughout trip and all our items stayed dry and secure. We were able to bring a thin foldup step ladder with us, tucked in the very back of the truck at the hatch and this made removal and installation of the bag and contents much easier than had we not, given the height of the vehicle combined with additional height of loaded bag. This was especially helpful given that we broke the trip into 2 segments south and 2 northward and therefore needed to remove and reinstall the bag and contents at each stop. Anyway, I highly recommend this thing. Should something fail, I will report that. I do know that eventually, if used frequently, retreating with waterproofing would likely be necessary. But man, I'm super impressed so far. ... show more
