Each mounting rail is anchored to the wall with three heavy duty lag screws. Each of the orange arms are assigned a pivot point, with a nut and bolt, and then utilizes a pin to lock them in their upright position. This kit comes with 4 mounting rails, with three shelf arms per rail. The problem I ran in to is that the top-most mounting hole interferes with the pin hole that holds the shelf arm in place. The mounting bolt on the top keeps the pin from fully seating, which compromises the top shelf. This means either a) you have a non-functioning top shelf or b) you need to drill a new top mounting hole through the mounting bars to correct this poor machining job. It’s an easy enough modification to make but it’s the point that *the consumer shouldn’t have to in order to have a fully functioning product.* I’ve attached a photo of this issue to my review, and it was present with all 4 of the mounting rails. Aside from that, the shelves do work. But they’re not “thick and durable” as advertised. They can be drilled through quite easily without overworking a V20 drill, and the rails were prone to warping if power tools are used to drive the bolts (I used an impact driver with a 10mm socket). Aside from all that, installation and assembly are easy, which keeps the score at 3 out of 5. ... show more

These are legit racks. I installed them in our barn with metal studs, which meant using metal screws and not the included hardware. The first set worked great, so I ordered some more!

The media could not be loaded. Pros- Easy installation and tough. Cons- the top hole is drilled too close to the locking pin. This means when you install the shelf arm, the pin can’t drop and lock completely so only one side of shelf arm is holding the entire weight. This is a safety hazard. The fix- I drilled another hole below the original so the pin can drop and both sides of the shelf arm engage. If this description is a bit confusing, check the pictures. ... show more

These were a great solution to one of his storage problems. After having his initial attempt to store his excess lumber with L shaped shelf brackets ( they failed) he ordered these and they work wonderfully. He really liked the ease of installing and the fact the arms swing up when not needed.

I'm skeptical that the retaing rods will actually prevent the rack arms from folding down and dumping everything. Even worse, the retaining rod for each top rack arm cannot fully seat as the mounting bolt is in the way. I will wire the retaining rods in place as I'm past the return window. If the manufacturer had positioned the hole for the mounting bolt only a few milimters down, the retaining rod could seat. Also, the functional height of each shelf is only about 5 inches. Once I redrilled where the top mounting holes are they were great. When I first mounted them to the wall the bolts interfered with shelf pins.

Don’t buy this piece of crap product! That hole in the photo is what you use to mount to the wall. The piece blocking the hole should not be there but the hole was drilled in the wrong spot. I had to drill out the holes so that I could make it work and not have to deal with removing all the pieces, boxing them up, returning them, waiting for a new product to arrive… ... show more
