Description

THE POOL SENTRY is used to maintain the water level of a pool, spa or pond automatically and unattended. When the Pool Sentry is removed from the box, it is easily assembled by threading the fill tube into the float valve. Snap the fill tube and float valve into the base and fill the base with small rocks or pea gravel. Next, snap the top cover onto the base and attach the garden hose (not included). Finally, adjust the float to the desired position. The supply water stays on at all times when the Pool Sentry is in the pool. As the float drops, the water turns on. When the float reaches its set height, the water shuts off. The customer can adjust the float to any desired level, usually a point halfway on the tile line or skimmer. Because the hose is under constant water pressure, it is essential that the customer uses a heavy-duty, reinforced hose. A flyer in each box offers customers an aftermarket hose. It is rated to 200 psi working pressure and 750 psi burst strength. The Pool Sentry works with a pool water level that is 2 to 8" below the pool deck surface.

  • This is my third one in 15 years "not bad"
Can't beleive any pool builder would build a pool that would require you to use a water hose to keep your pool filled on a regular basis, duh! But this little guy is a true savior that removes the headache of constantly monitoring and filling the pool not to mention possible over filling. I live in Arizona and the summers here are hot so evaperation is constant, but not a problem with this simple yet effective gadget. Works on the same principle as your toilet tank filler. I can just imagine the light that went off in some persons head that figured this system out. It's takes 5 mins to put together, I do recommend connecting a good quality dependalbe hose that can endure the elements of all day sun exposure like the "Zero-G" hose or the "RV/Marine white/blue hose ", which iI have used for years now, both great products. Since the hose stretches from the spigot to the edge of the pool, You may want to consider putting some orange paint or tape on the hose so people see it and don't trip over it. Note: YOU MUST PUT SOME PLUMBERS TAPE AROUND THE "THREATED" PARTS (2 OF THEM; ONE ON THE HOSE AND ONE ON THE UNIT) OR YOU WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE A LEAK! The plumber tape takes care of that issue perfectly. Now turn the water on and it should start to put water into the pool. With the pool water level already filled to the mid point of the skimmer openning, I used some tweezers to grab the hard to get to white stem that adjusts the shut-off point by pulling it up and turning it counter clockwise until it shut off. I did put some farely good size rocks inside the box area to weight it down. Lastly, I make sure my hose is straight so theres no tension to cause problems. that's it check it once or twice to make sure no leaks and filling correctly, then forget about it (well maybe check it from time to time)! I can't say enough how it has taken the stress and worry out of whether the pool has enough water 24/7 especially if you aren't home for a few days, because if the water level gets lower than the skimmer opening, your pump will run dry and burn it up. I saw another post on here that gave it a terrible review I just can't beleive given my experience which this product which includes it hasn't been abused by kids, dogs, mowers etc. ... show more

  • So far it is working well.
This is our third Pool Sentry. The first lasted about 5 years, so I gladly bought a new one when it “died”. Unfortunately the second did not even last two years. However, after looking at other options I decided to try again. The machine is plastic and not metal, so it feels “cheap”. However it works with a garden hose, is easy to set up and adjust, and keeps the pool at the correct water level. I’m resigned that this is an expense we will have to incur periodically. ... show more

  • Didn’t last long
After a while it started leaking, not at the hose connection. Maybe the Hot ARIZONA SUMMER COOKED IT!!!

  • Great device/ limited life in Arizona
This is the second time I have ordered this Pool sentry. It does a great job on our pool. The only downside is The Pool sentry sits in direct sun. It made it about 16 months before we had to replace it.

  • Great customer service, poor product
I ordered this so I wouldn’t have to manually fill my pool with water. The product arrived and after about a month, there was a broken component that caused a leak. Customer Service (CS) was very good and sent a replacement part. My biggest issue with the product is that the bobber used to shut off the water gets stuck. I have caught the pool either not filling or overfilling overnight on several occasions. It makes me not trust the device to perform as intended. I tried all of the recommended remedies that CS told me about, but I still do not trust the pool filler. The bobber has since been stuck again after trying remedies. CS, again, was very good, the product is just not trustworthy. Edit: After I wrote this, the filler overflowed my pool while I was away visiting family today. The auto shut off is faulty, DO NOT BUY! • Works like a charm!
I can’t believe how well this small device works. For years, we’ve had to drag out the hose across our patio several times a week to fill up our pool from heat evaporation. Then we had to remember to turn off the hose so the pool wouldn’t overfill. To save all of that work and tripping hazard, we installed this simple device and connected it to an underground water line. It uses an internal bobber that you can set at any height, and it automatically turns the water on when the bobber drops, and automatically turns the water off when it rises to the top where you set it. You can basically set it, and forget it. It is the best pool purchase for the money!! ... show more

  • Great while it lasts
Worked great during the first season, but started leaking during the 2nd season letting a steady stream of water out between the plastic and the hose fixture, part of the flow tube assembly. Even after replacing the filter and trying out several hose washer rings, it still leaks, making it unusable. If you stock up on the flow tube assembly, you can then just switch them out when they go bad, part number 503022 on the rola-chem.com website, or here on Amazon. ... show more
