This jar opener is fun to watch and usually does the job. Yesterday, though, I had a jar of sauerkraut that was a tiny bit too large to fit within the Robotwist, but that is an unusual occurrence. Every other jar I've had has fitted into the Robotwist and been opened, even one product that no other jar opener in my well-stocked kitchen has managed to open. Every person over 70 should have one of these! My wife was always bringing hard-to-remove lids to me. I would pound on the lid with a knife or hold it under hot water, and then struggle to open the jar. I am 88. I am not as strong as I was a few years ago.     • Battery connection delicate
I have used a Robotwist Jar Opener for over a year, and it works very well. However, recenty it ceased working so I bought another only to find that the original gadget was really okay. The problem was that the contacts for the batteries loosened so that the batteries wouldn't connect properly. My husband tightened the contacts, and now I have 2 working Robotwists. If anyone encounters this problem, they should check the contacts in the battery section. ... show more

Don’t know how long this will last, since it is plastic. But this is a lifesaver for my hands. I’ve used it a couple times on different size jars and, so far, it has worked perfectly! Wish someone made an electric one but maybe in time someone will.

The first time I used it worked great so I bought two more for family. The second time I tried to open a jar it failed. It would not grab the lid or grip the jar I even tried to guide it steady so it would grab the lid. Now I have 3 of these and two I don’t want to give them to my family.
