  • great quality
Size: 14"
this to me is just an overall good sound , I kept making purchases and returns because I thought going from remo to Evans would help me find my sound , but I found out that I am still a remo man and this is one of my favorite heads , prolly #1 or #2 but I will purchase more remo heads .

  • The X must stand for Xcellence...
Size: 14"
I've been drumming for almost 20 years now, and while I've had some snare heads I really like I think it's safe to say this is my favorite one. Why? Ok, I guess I'll tell you. The Emperor X is thicker than any snare head I've used. That creates a big sound and it's great when you get it right where you want it, and this tough head is tough to break. When I'm drumming live (3 hrs a night of Heavy Metal/Hard Rock drumming) I tend to get excited and hit hard. I'm sore for a couple of days after a show even, but it doesn't phase this head. Also, when I'm working on my own thing I drum to all types of Metal (Death, Black, Thrash, etc...), Grindcore and Hardcore Punk (think early to mid '80s English/Scottish/Swedish Punk) for the most part. With my taste of drumming and music I've come to realize I don't like the sound of new heads (or cymbals), so if I get a head that holds up for along time and sounds great I usually stick with it. This head after a couple of weeks of use until I change it (usually 2 weeks before a live show) sounds awesome and it holds up to my abuse for along time. The price is great, too. ... show more

  • Nice drum head, used via Amazon makes it a great deal/
Size: 13"
I've wanted one of these heads to try on my Pearl 13 steel snare. But at $30 they seemed too expensive just to try out. But, when Amazon offered this head used but in very good condition for $15, I thought I'd give it a try. Didn't like it at first but, it's a great head. It's thicker than regular drum heads so it works better tighter, once you get that done, the head is crisp and clean sounding. Some overtone ring on my snare so, a gel or dampening might be in order. Give this head a try, I think I want some of these for my other snares too. Keep an eye out for a used deal. It's very worth it. ... show more

  • Great Sound and Durability
Size: 14"
I bought two of these to replace the batter heads on two different snare drums. One went on a Percussion Plus 8-lug wood snare and the other on a vintage Ludwig 8-lug wood snare with internal muffler. Now I know the Ludwig is worth at least 3x as much as the Percussion Plus, but with this head and correct tuning, you would be hard pressed to tell which is which, as they both sound amazing. I play with brushes a lot, and the pop you can get with this head is perfect. With sticks, I can get the snare to really sing out and take center stage. With the two layered design, I don't have to worry about replacing this head anytime soon. I am using O-rings as well as a little piece of paper towel taped with masking tape to the batter head. I feel it helps reduce the unwanted vibrations produced by the snare drum. Please note, it is crucial to tune your snare drum correctly. That means the resonant head must be tuned before the batter head. I am using the stock resonant heads on both snares, and they do just fine. If you are using a snare drum with less than 8-lugs, I would suggest upgrading your drum. ... show more

  • Great sound!
Size: 14"
Have historically been an Evan’s guy, but have recently transitioning to Remo. A few of my drummer friends recommended and gave it a shot. Great tone with the perfect amount of dampening for me. Using on an 8” X 14” Ludwig Black Magic.

  • THE BEST and most versatile snare drum head!!
Size: 14"
Even thought I find myself deviating between REMO/Evans on my toms (batter heads), the Remo Emperor X is my absolute A1A go-to for shows (of any kind) every time! The head supports low/vintage (BFSD-ish) tuning OR you can tighten it up SNUG and play all your favorite 311 tunes with a similar "pop"! I'm a hard-hitting, pocket-rock drummer and I just love the durability, versatility and consistent response (even when it's almost time for a new one). You won't regret trying this head!! ... show more
