Nylog is a vital tool for anyone working with HVAC. It creates a micro-seal that will help to prevent leaks on mating surfaces. I've used this on both flared connections on a mini-split line sets as well as using on the low and high side ports. Though those ports have Schraeder valves, this is a little extra peace of mind to make sure that you aren't slowly leaking out refrigerant.     • Insurance on mini-split flares fittings. Worked fine.

I self-installed a 15KBtu Mitsubishi mini-split in my workshop. Where do most people have trouble? Yes, the flares fittings leaking. I’m a major DIY-er, and watched lots of various YouTube videos on making flared fittings. I decided to dab a little bit of this on the mouth of the flare for a little extra sealing insurance. Worked great. I POSITIVE pressure tested first using nitrogen to 300PSIG, using a buddy’s N2 bottle and gauge set. Left it overnight for 11hrs and in the morning the pressure had not budged even a little. TIP-1: I liberally coated the cone of my flaring tool with this sealant before making the flare. It provided a smoother flare surface with less force required to make the flare and crank the handle. I borrowed a friend’s standard flaring tool and I did not have one of the nicer eccentric flaring tools and didn’t want to buy one just for this one time use. The sealant on the flaring cone helped in my opinion. I practiced 6-8 flares on scrap tubing (1/4” and 1/2” on my unit) before I flared the actual lines. TIP-2: when you finally go to connect your flare connections to the unit, dab the sealant on the mouth of the flare, but ALSO the back side of the flare that comes into contact with the nut. Why? The sealant will act as a little bit of lube where the nut cintacts the flare, and it will reduce the tendency of the tubing to twist when tightening the nut and make it easier to turn the nut to proper torque (yes, it’s best to use a torque wrench on these connections to avoid under or over tightening, because either could cause leaks). In the end, I’m glad I bought this. Did I really need it? Not sure... but my fitting didn’t leak the first time at 300psig. (Heat pump units run up to and over 400psig in heat mode). This stuff is clear and has the consistency of a sticky thick CA glue (super glue). It stays like that and doesn’t seem to change much. Just for those of you wondering like I was before I bought it. Used on a 4 ton system already set for compression fittings , surprisingly it worked great 0 leaks inside and out ,after numberous tests and complains about compression fittings it really helped with sealing and locking compression fittings tightly , placed a small amount on the seat and also on the threads definitely worth the addition to any system running and preset for compression fittings . ... show more

this product is a must have for all of us DIY individuals. I purchased a split mini ac unit and the installation went according to plan until the vacuum test. I tried so many different ways to ensure the test would be successful. Everything I read said this product or the Blue version was a must have and they were correct!! As soon as I applied the product the nut threaded easier and seated further. My vacuum test help the first time and held the required pressure with out a wiggle. I was able to complete my instal and my system is working perfectly. I wold recommend this product as a must have for anyone installing a DIY split mini ac system. ... show more
