  • close to 4200
Very close to 4200 at a better price point.

  • Worked great for installing rod holders on our boat.
I wanted to add two rod holders to our boat and decided to pick this 10oz Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000/4200 Fast Cure UV (White) - Semi-Permanent up to seat and seal them. The installation came out great and had no issues using this semi-permanent sealant (it seals but can come off later if need be). I was bonding metal to gelcoat and of course above the water (on top of the gunnel walls) so while it will get wet, the area I used it in should never be underwater unless my boat sinks - which would be terrible. I first dry installed the rod holders and made sure everything fit before I applied this sealant. Since it is a little cold outside this past week, I let the sealant stay in warm area until I was ready to use it to help with the flow since the can is metal and not your typical plastic that caulking is typically in. If it's too cold, sometimes it will break the metal tube as I've found out - not fun to clean up. For my application I covered close to the rod holder and the inside of the flange along with the screw holes. Said it'll cure fast within 24 hours which is great. Since I wasn't having it extrude out the sides, I didn't really have any clean up except some that got on my caulking gun. To clean this off, I used isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) which seems to clean polyurethane off easily. All in all very happy with the product and seems like it will hold up well. The price is inline with competitors and while I don't know who's product is better, if my project was more serious like say on the bottom of the hull and I had to be 100% sure of a good seal and product, I'd probably go with a name-brand since I'm not familiar with this one. It might be just as good but I'm no expert and would rather trust a name-brand that I know. However, for installs like I did with the rod holders, I trust this product from Berkley is going to work just fine and I will update if I have any issues down the road. ... show more

  • No Tip?
Good stuff but didn't get a Tip to screw on the tube.... Not easy to use without a tip.

  • The boater community says it’s the one they trust!
I ordered a tube of this Berkland 10 oz flexible Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000/4200 for a few spots on my boat that need sealing. This is the Fast Cure (White) version and offers a Semi-permanent seal. They also offer a permanent version. It provides watertight Bonding and Sealing and is UV Resistant, both above and below the waterline. This would be perfect for sealing areas around the boat to lockout moisture and water, yet flexible enough to adjust or remove if needed. I would not recommend using it to install a transducer when you have to make a penetration in the hull of your boat. Use their 5200 permanent version for that. I haven’t used it yet, but others in the boating community say this one is the one to get. So I give it 5 stars for its solid reputation and will adjust my review once I’ve used it. ... show more

  • Good stretch
Applies with the same consistency and same dry time as the name brand 4000 adhesive but at less than ½ the price. I used this adhesive sealer to install a pair of transducers that will sit below the waterline. A little bit of the adhesive oozed out between the clamshells, the mounting brackets and the transom and it was a real easy clean-up; using an old popsicle stick cut square I scraped up the excess adhesive and finished the rest of the clean-up with a clean rag and some acetone. The results came out perfect. Since I had some of the adhesive sealant left over I laid a ¼” x 6” bead on a waxed piece of aluminum and let it dry for 48 hours at room temperature. That 6” bead proved to be elastic as I was able to stretch it at least 3/16” without any breakage and it seemed very tough and resistant. I have no doubt that this adhesive sealant seal out any water and will last as long as my transducers will. ... show more

  • 10oz Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000 - easy to use, works and adheres perfect!
Tube is well made, no fear of having it go bad because of a bad container. Easy to use and fit into a regular caulking gun. No mixing needed, ready to go right out of the tube. Just pull the bottom tab cover off like a soda can, slip it into the caulking gun and puncture a hole on the outgoing end and screw on the tube funnel and you're ready to go. Comes out smooth and so far so good with all the things I had to secure to my boat. This stuff is great for temporary or semi-permanent fixtures. Adheres well, but can also come off with some effort. Only time will really tell if these last, but I'll definitely update this if there are any negative outcomes. So far, I recommend this brand sealant. ... show more

  • Basic repairs
If it’s not one thing it’s another with boats. This stuff is great to have in hand for various projects or repairs. It comes with gloves and I highly recommend wearing gloves ( as well as eye pro) with this stuff because the adhesive is impressive. Great to have on hand and ordering is a wonderful option especially if you doing live near a retailer that sells this stuff. ... show more

  • Used it on my last power pole and transducer install
I recently installed a power pole and I put this around all the bolt holes before I tightened them down to the transom. I also installed a transducer and used it in every pre drilled screw hole I made. It seemed almost identical to the stuff I buy at the stores labeled 4200. It’s got the same consistency and tackyness. It definately seems cured after 24 hours and Tim will have to tell us the rest. So far this seems like an awesome deal on a whole caulk tube filled with marine 4200 that is just as good as any other brand I’ve purchased. It tacks up quickly in about 10-15 minutes, so if you’re going to smear it do it immediately. My only complaint is how hard it is to clean from your hands…… but that also made me like it more! ... show more
