I am adding this basket to a 2019 Jeep Renegade to up its Edginess factor. I read the reviews, and it seems that most people are reviewing the prior model. I did not find any issues with the assembly at all and the all black hardware is a significant advantage when compared with other Baskets in this price category. The mounting hardware seems very sturdy and easy to use. By snapping the basket rails into the spacers, any possible noise or metal shaking on the road is eliminated. I will post some photos as soon as I get this fully mounted to my crossbeams (they were delayed 2 days). And then I will update the review after driving with it on the car for a while. Note: For the lubricant for the rubber pieces that protect the screws, I used Canola oil. Made the slippery enough to push along the rails. I elected to put them over the screw heads rather than under them as shown in the photo. I believe that this will help with long-term durability, but only time will tell. Update: Attached the basket to the crossbars today. Everything went smoothly. I used the widest setting possible, something that is determined by the length of the basket itself. This is the perfect size for a small vehicle like the Renegade. I am going to add a light bar up front, so anything larger would have interfered. Make sure that you have your front cross bar loose when you are centering the basket. Then center the basket to the car, not necessarily the cross bars in case they have been extended. The rear cross bar can stay locked down so that you have one static reference point. When tightening the brackets down, make sure they seat wholly on top of the two plastic nubs. This will ensure a tight fit when you finally screw them down. I am going to drive around for a few days and check the tightness. I will get back to you (my loyal readers...lol) after some general tests. ... show more

I really dig this basket rack a lot. It was pretty easy to put together. Quite sturdy when I got it installed and worked like a champ to haul the few items I needed it to carry. My only dislike is that the supplied rubber washers that go under the screws holding the basket together are flimsy and squeeze out under the screws when you tighten them down which makes them kinda useless. I also bought the LED light kit off Amazon that I mounted to the rack as well as the crossbars. ... show more

I like the basket and the only reason I gave it four stars is that when assembling it the middle section posts did NOT LINE UP to the back section and I had to remedy it by FILING the metal post down almost a 1/32 of an inch in order to make it fit. This opened the paint and it may now be suseptible to rusting but I had no choice because we were going to be traveling in three days after my assembly. Not time to repair it properly. This shows sloppy attention to details during quality control IF they even have that where it was manufactured. Otherwise everything fit perfectly and there were no missing parts. This is being installed on top of a 2017 Mazda CX-3 because we need extra cargo space for trips and this was my only option other than replacing my car. Hopefully it will do well on the trip. I installed this roof basket on top of my Thule roof rack. The basket was easy to install and didn't take much time to assemble. The only thing I didn't like was the hardware holding it together, I have doubts about the self tappers holding the basket together over time. The "weatherproofing" is also questionable as it uses rubber sleeves to keep the rain out of the basket frame but is a simple solution and can be replaced easily if needed. However, this is a ~$72 basket, you're not going to get top-of-the-line construction for this price point. The basket held up very well on a 1,500 mile trip up and down the east coast. There was rain, snow, and wind while going down the highway at 65mph - 70mph for 11 consecutive hours. Never did it come loose or shift positions on the rack. As a universal roof basket that is made to fit many different cars, I think this basket is a good option. ... show more

I bought this for my son as a birthday gift. When it was opened, there was absolutely no hardware to install it on top of his car. Amazon online instructed me to call the manufacturer for Reese and they have been difficult to work with and unhelpful.

My brother helped me install the roof rack. It actually looks PERFECT on my 2020 Highlander. I wanted a small sleek roof rack for camping trips (nothing too bulky, etc.). It was exactly what I wanted and I didn't have to pay an arm and leg for it . The roof rack was under 100$ after taxes and fit my budget perfectly. I didn't want to spend to much on a roof rack. I think it will serve its purpose nicely! Reese is an overall great and affordable brand (I have their tow hitch ball attachment as well). Overall, it's perfect for what I need.
