After reading reviews before purchasing, I went into this knowing that adhesion was going to be non existent (and it was). That being said, for $25 I still purchased because the sun is blinding in the afternoon when it comes through this window and I knew I could make it work. What I did was use the velcro-type command strips to hold it down in place. This served a dual-purpose as I wanted to be able to open and close the shade as I still wanted natural light to come into the window. If you intend on just using the sticky strips it comes with, the shade will always be “closed” and in place, and if that’s your goal then a staple gun could easily be used in place of command strips. TIP: I initially didn’t remove the ruler sticky strip as I wanted to be able to “open and close” the shade so I initially attached the command strip right to the ruler, but 5 minutes later the sticky strip on the ruler separated from the shade (it isn’t supposed to do that). So I took the ruler off completely to where it was bare fabric, got my hot glue gun, and hot glued the shade to the velcro command strip. So if you’re seeing this I would just skip ahead and safe yourself the time and just take the ruler off to start with. ... show more

The shade is great, I have been wanting to put something up since I moved a year ago, however, I did not want to spend a hundred dollars and have an installer, when I saw this I said I will give it a try. I am not at all handy so I thought I might mess it up, not really. So many people talked about the cutting I had no problem. make sure you have it exactly in the right place, before removing the adhesive strip. I should have been about 1/8 of an inch to the right but it's not that noticeable. People talked about the adhesive not holding so since it is out of view I put a couple of tacks in it so I would not have a problem. It has been up a couple of weeks no problem. ... show more

    • Very good option for covering a circular window.

We have a circular window at the top of our office with the sun shining in very strong in the afternoon. We had the cheaper paper shade before and it just never looked very good. Custom made "real" blinds were going to be several hundred dollars so we decided to give this a try and cut our losses if it didn't work out. This cellular shade is all we need. From the outside it's impossible to tell it isn't a real cellular shade and inside is close enough. Cons are that it's not as easy to cut as they make it look and you have to be *very* careful - a slight deviation from perfectly straight on the cut will be much more noticeable once you expand it. It's also more difficult to install than the video looks and I had to move it around quite a bit to get the accordion effect to look even but, once it's done, you never have to touch it again. I considered only giving 4 stars because of this but, for the price, I still think it justifies 5. The only time I wouldn't recommend this is if you're installing it in the main part of your house (our's was in a side office) and are very picky about appearances as it's going to be tough to get that cut perfect. For the rest of us, a great option for the price and definitely recommended! ... show more

The shade is well made, and cutting it to fit my window is interesting, not easy, and I don't think it's possible to get it done alone. However, the adhesive is weak, and I had to use a few moulding nails to hold it in place. Hope the next version will get better.

Once you deal with the issues to get it installed you will likely be good. It's a decent product. My experience seems to be common with many others writing reviews. The adhesive connecting the honeycomb shade to the strip that connects to your frame is incredible poor. It came off so easy, I almost thought they forgot to glue it, but it was just poorly made. The good news is you can fix that yourself with thumbtacks, glue, whatever. Again, decent overall product, but for this price they should be able to build it a little better. this is my 2nd window covering from the same source. The first one lasted 5+ years but was becoming worn with age; the replacement window covering adhesive would not hold to the window sill due to the strength of the fan of the covering trying to return to a closed position. I ended up punching holes in the base strip on each side and screwing the covering in place to the window sill.
