  • Stop thinking and do it, great buy!
Update: put a cage, 35t motor, 25mm spacers with 2.8inch wheels. Man it made it a beast. This is what I decided to go with after a few months of debating on whether to burn 400 to 500 on a rc crawler. It is my first and after seeing the higher end ones in action like the axial and traxxas, I'd say theres not much of a difference. Sure you're gonna break some parts and parts will fail for no reason, but the price is what sells this beast. And yes this thing is an animal. I did order a couple parts after reading up on many posts about what parts most often fail. So I ordered a set of lockers, axles, and a 20kg servo. I did swap out the lockers just cause 90% of owners said they will blow out soon. The first thing to actually fail is the servo/steering box, and it did after about 4 days or about 8 hours of use. Luckily I already had the other one and swapped it out. Man what a difference that made. I had to reduce the steering so it wouldn't snap anything apart. The factory one I had set at 100%, this one 40%. I'll update later on but for now I'd put this up against any crawler out there. Seriously. For just a little over 200 bucks I think its a great way to get into the hobby. I use it in the house all the time, lol. My daughter loves playing with it and flipping it back over. It climbs everything! She puts pillows up it climbs up on the sofa. It's like her little puppy friend. ... show more

  • Bought it for a birthday gift.
Great model for entry level crawler. I recommend upgrading the steering servo and tires.

  • Very durable, excellent crawler for the money.
Handles, ice, snow, mud, water, rocks and stumps really well Only complaint was battery life with the supplied battery & it’s was a little to slow for me. I upgraded to a 5000 50c 3s battery greatly improved battery life & speed. Also upgraded the motor to a 21T 550 motor & installed a larger Pinion gear. It is now fairly quick, has tons of power and performs well on any terrain. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an entry level crawler. ... show more

  • Durable fun crawler for the money
This was my first hobby grade RC monster truck. It’s been the most reliable out of all of my rc cars. I bought this only because they ran out of stock of the danchee ridge rock. The danchee ridge rock is more fun to drive because it has more capable tires, is faster (I think) and it has 4 wheel steering. It is indeed waterproof! It’s been completely submerged in the ocean, and creeks! The biggest problem with it is it’s horrible turning radius and speed. In its defense it is a crawler! To address This I swapped the motor for a $10 RC4WD 35T motor and the speed is now acceptable but it’s lost a small amount of torque compared to the stock motor that came with it. To me it’s an acceptable trade off as it now is faster than I can walk at a fast pace when it was slower than I could walk! Another weakness in its design is its high center of gravity, as it flips easily. At times, it amazes me what it’s capable of, as it occasionally outperforms my axial bomber when crawling but I’ve tuned my bomber to be more of a basher. Last word of advice: Do not take this to the beach! (Applicable to any rc car probably) I spent a solid 2 hours disassembling and cleaning all the gears to remove the sand. It even caused one of the bearings in the transmission to fail. I don’t think you can buy the bearings in the transmission, so I just ordered the whole transmission for $20. This is the easiest car in my rotation to do maintenance on. There are snobs (your local hobby store staff especially) that look down on redcat, but it’s led me to buy an axial bomber, axial scx24, latrax Teton & arrma granite 3s blx. So I’d say redcat has its place in the hobby! ... show more

  • REAL NICE
Was excited to get this. have been modifying it ever since. Light kit, frame extended, modified other bodies to fit. Rear steering ,lipo batteries. If you get one i suggest taking the diffs apart and put a lot of waterproof lithium grease in the hubs as well as the axle shafts. Quiets it down a little and will keep dirt and water out. ( as there was no lube in them at all !! They were dry. ) Do not expect fast speeds... this is a crawler, but still fun to challenge. Next mod is to some how put a 2 spd trans and a bigger motor. LOW Torque for the climb, and wheel spinning speed . I am having fun. Very easy to work on as basically all the parts go on front or back so no special specific part orders. I do not see this truck ever breaking unless it falls off a cliff. ... show more

  • It's a nice beginner rc crawler.
Don't expect a super fast car. It's not made for speed. It's made to crawl and climb. I like how well it climbs. The flex is amazing. It's pretty durable. My 30 lb 2 year old fell on top of it and nothing broke. I deffentialy recommend this crawler for people starting out. Battery life is decent. Would recommend adding the rear steer option. Unless you don't mind the big turning radius. But for the money you get a very nice out of the box ready to crawl car. 10 out of 10 would buy this again ... show more

  • Best Crawler for the money. (*updated with first part failure*)
**Update**Just like previous reviewer's noted my steering arm broke after a 2 hrs of rock climbing. Not a big deal and I still love this crawler but rather a heads up to buy a spare servo arm to have on hand. I don't think this is a product defect either but the result of hard crawling*** PROS: -Great value for overall entry level crawler -nice adjustable controller -battery lasts forever, I've yet to finish it but should last 45m-1hr. -comes with battery and charger -out of the box it's ready to run -LIPO ready up to 3s This crawler is very capable and can climb over huge logs without an issue. It's unstoppable. CONS or improvements: -You will want to upgrade tires for any serious crawling -servo is decent but easy to upgrade if you want better -plastic lockers are prone to failure. metal upgrades available -make sure to lubricate both diffs with some teflon dry lube or similar ... show more
