  • Very Sturdy, Easy to Setup, Works Great! (Large Size)
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
I purchased the large size to better support 12 inch cast-iron pans and such. As mentioned in the description, the blue plastic was already removed - yay! Once assembled the frame is very sturdy and holds pans well. My first fire was with charcoal briquettes. It lit easily and the coals were ready in 20 minutes. I added a heavy duty screen of stainless steel I could lay on top of the grill plate to keep the fire from licking up the sides of the pans. It stows next to the bottom grate when folded for storage. Clean-up wasn't too bad. Yes, the thick stainless panel will get sooty. I slipped the washed and dried grill into a thin plastic shopping bag before tucking it back into the cloth carry bag to keep any remaining soot from marring the inside of the carrier. I got this primarily for cooking with pots and pans. But it's great you can also grill a decent sized meat or veggie. A number of portable camp stoves have a fixed open hole for feeding wood. This has a door that doubles as a support for longer sticks. You'll need a good pair of leather gloves to work the door or mess with the grate. And I am so pleased about the heavy gauge sheetmetal this is made from. ... show more

  • This thing is awesome but a bit heavy
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
So this thing is well built, folds up nice and comes with a carry bag. I love that you could build a Dakota fire pit, put this on top and then put the bottom try on top and now you got an oven. Its big enough to actually grill a stake on and doesn't require gas which is a plus. I will warn anyone thinking about using this for hiking that it is quit heavy and theres smaller lighter options to get the job done. Thats my only complaint and don't think that warrants taking off a star because every tool has its place including this one. I'm not the type to get mad at a quality screw driver because it makes a bad hammer. Just be aware this thing has the weight of 2 large heavy school books and will take up the amount of space in your bag 1 large school book would. This would be great for SHTF or camping but hiking the PCT or AT this would not be good for that, it's just too heavy. ... show more

  • Very handy when starting a larger fire is not possible.
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
Took this on several camping trips and have used it on each one. The last trip we camped on near the ocean and it was very breezy and hard to cook on the larger grill at the camp site. Found a sheltered site out of the wind and fired this up and was able to cook four burgers and then cook noodles in no time. Folds up easily for storage. ... show more

  • Very sturdy but...
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
Very pleased so far the large version, It's made of pretty heavy gauge steel and folds into compact flat pack style form. However the weak point seams to be with the actual grill component. One of the grill bars was sloppily put on and I could prolly pop it off with my thumb. The grill component is of surprisingly heavy gauge but the spot welding doesn't seem sturdy. It'll be interesting to see how the grill holds up in full heat. The main body seems very sturdy however and made quite well. It came with no documentation, warranty and there is no Redcamp website so it is basically a generic Chinese product. It did come with a carrying bag and overall not bad for the price. I do foresee in the future having to construct a replacement grill for it at some point but we'll see. I'll post an updated review after I put it through some cooking action. ... show more

  • Brilliant design, extremely well made and durable.
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
This was just delivered, but i'm so impressed with how durable and well made it is, i wanted to let people know. I think that this is easily strong enough to hold a large cast iron frying pan or large pan of water. It feels heavier than i thought it would be (close to 10 pounds, but the weight is a sign of high quality and durability, and that's the price you pay. If you're concerned about weight in a backpack, then maybe get the smaller version, but this fits my military style mess kit pan perfectly, and offers good room for cooking things on the grill. It sets up in seconds, when i took it out of the box it folded right open and practically set it self up, i just had to set the grate on top and slide the ash tray under (which might be unnecessary if you're using it on the ground?). Easy peasy. I'm very happy with purchase. ... show more

  • Excellent for campfire and cooking
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
I've been using two different solo stoves for a while. I decided to get one of these because the solo stove's don't do a good job radiating the heat when used as a firepit. I have the solo stove titan and lite. I have the full tripod kit. I like the solo stoves. However, my issue is they are not really smoke free in my opinion. In fact, the redcamp stove is far superior to the solo stove when it comes to being smoke free. I believe this is because it burns incredibly hot. Once you get a fire in this thing, it is unbelievable. I recommend a tripod for cooking. If you are grilling, wait until you are down to coals or your food will easily burn. I love this stove, and it is my go to stove for camping. It's easier to load than my solo stoves, seems to burn hotter, is smoke free (takes time to heat up to get to this point), folds up and is very easy to transport. I highly recommend this stove. ... show more

  • Fantastic little stove
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
It folds up like a book and has a very nice bag. It's made of thick stainless steel and holds up very well. I really love it.

  • Camp stove
Style: Large, Stainless Steel Grill
Nice and heavy camp stove which folds up easily. It is much sturdier than I would have originally thought from the photos. This is a good purchase.
