  • Great device for scheduling and controlling watering of indoor plants, even remotely
I have used 3 other RainPoint products in the past so I know the company and it's products. They have all been flawless and very well engineered. So I felt confident in purchasing this automatic watering system. My assumption turned out to be correct. The system is very well constructed, can be easily set up for watering one or more indoor plants as long as they are placed relatively close together (due to irrigation tube length), and does exactly what it promises. There is an app that works with the system and is full of useful settings including simple ones such as interval between watering, duration of watering, auto vs manual start. I have not used the more sophisticated adjustments such as changes based on weather conditions. I have run the system using the app and everything works perfectly. Since I have a second residence from which I am absent for several weeks at a time, this automatic watering system is exactly what the doctor ordered since my plants no longer dry out becasue no one is around to water them for weeks. I wholeheartedly endorse this product. ... show more

  • Easy and affordable wireless watering system.
The RAINPOINT Automatic Watering System is an absolute game-changer for anyone who loves their indoor house plants as much as I do! This innovative and convenient system has made caring for my plants a breeze, especially during those times when I'm away from home. I recently had the pleasure of using the RAINPOINT system while my family and I were out of town for an entire month. Normally, I'd be worried sick about my beloved plants, but this smart and efficient device stepped in as the ultimate plant caregiver. No more relying on friends or family to take care of my green friends or stressing about finding a plant-sitter. The RAINPOINT system took care of everything. Setting up the system was surprisingly easy, thanks to its user-friendly design. The ability to connect to it via Wi-Fi added a level of convenience that I truly appreciated. I could adjust the watering schedule and settings right from my phone, making it incredibly convenient to adapt to the changing needs of my plants. The most notable benefit was the peace of mind it provided during our absence. Knowing that my plants were getting the right amount of water on a consistent basis was a huge relief. It's like having a responsible plant nanny that you can trust to keep your foliage lush and healthy. The only slight downside I encountered was the challenge of determining the optimal watering duration. It took a bit of trial and error to get it just right, and I did notice that plants closer to the device seemed to receive more water than those farther away. However, once I found the right balance and adjusted accordingly, it worked like a charm. In conclusion, the RAINPOINT Automatic Watering System has truly exceeded my expectations. It's a must-have for plant enthusiasts, especially for those times when you're away from home. It's reliable, convenient, and offers an effective solution to keeping your indoor plants thriving, even in your absence. The slight learning curve for watering durations is a small price to pay for the convenience and peace of mind it provides. I wholeheartedly recommend the RAINPOINT system to any plant lover looking to make plant care a breeze. ... show more

  • Surprisingly bad
I've used drip irrigation systems, both outdoor and indoor, for nearly 30 years now. I didn't expect that a highly rated system in 2023 would be so bad. Start with the basics: - It's a remote control WiFi system with programmable and on-demand watering (at least in theory). That is the main reason I bought it. But, if the WiFi connection is dropped (as happens), or the power goes out, it's a brick. It won't water until you press the manual button on the box. No internal timing or programming. - Minor complaint (but illustrative): One cannot set the time to water. Only the pump duration, and interval between pump cycles. (Is this 2023? Reminds me of the programmable VCRs that were always flashing 12:00 in the 1980s) - The battery backup allows one to water manually by pressing a button on the box without the USB power connection, and preserves the WiFi programming (in theory). But, it won't water automatically. What's the point of that on an automatic system? - App is clunky. Didn't bother much with it, after the initial (painful) set up and testing. Often non-responsive, and didn't want to switch to manual watering remotely. Appears very interested in location and surrounding networks, for no good reason. - WiFi connection for pump is 2.4Ghz only. Fine. Many IoT devices are only 2.4. All of my cameras are 2.4. This is the first app/device I've encountered that couldn't handle my standard dual-band, single SSID network. Fortunately, I had set up a separate 2.4 IoT network a couple of weeks ago. But, would have been a major PITA, if I hadn't (warning notice on app during setup almost literally says: "You're using 5 Ghz WiFI; reconfigure your network to 2.4 Ghz to use our piece of junk, or it won't work" - WiFi connecting frequently dropped with a great, strong signal in the room. -Past the basics of the device, the check-valve for the tubing string was defective. Passed air one way, but not the other. Wouldn't pass water either way. - Pump is strong enough so that back-pressure from defective check valve was enough to cause tube to pop off barb (wasn't easy to get on, but popped off easily). Removing defective check valve delayed the pop-off by about 10 minutes. - Every drip emitter is end-of line, but there's no variation in tubing size for the trunk vs. branch lines. -Micro drip emitters seem to be junk - couldn't reliably get a consistent drip. My 10 minute (before tubing pop-off) test only yielded about 1-2 oz of water. -Filter screen for water intake floats, rather than sinking to bottom. Took some convincing to keep it from sucking air. Overall, can't believe so many people seem to highly rate this piece of junk. I'm going back to my geriatric, quirky, gravity feed Claber Oasis system. At least I can get it to work fairly reliably, and it doesn't need WiFi. ... show more
