Update #2: It's important to mention that I think these are a great tool to ensure that the plants don't run out of water but I'm not sure about how good that are at nutrient uptake. I'll be using these a little differently going forward. I'll be making sure the base is full of plain, ph'd water but will twice a week water and feed from the top down. My plants look like they're suffering just a little in a way I haven't noticed before. As these don't water all the way to the top of the pot, I think it's a good idea to mix it up. Update #1: After 3 weeks using these, I am impressed. These work great by taking away the possibility of over watering. It’s a set it and forget it product. I did replace the wicks as I felt shoe laces weren’t up to the task but that’s probably not true. The rubber inserts for the wick ports were too tight imo soi removed those. I added nutes to the water for the first time this morning ands topped so we’ll see how that goes but so far, so good. The "wicks" are shoe laces. This may work but I won't know. Replacing them straight away. 🙄 I don't think the plastic tips, although yes I know I could just cut them off, will work for me. ... show more

Seems to be the best method to insure the proper amount of water supplied to the plants. Works very well and the plants love it.

Makes it hard to over or under water. Would have liked to buy AC Infinitys version but the design is not as good as this. These have the water fill and the gauge on the same side. Until ACI fixes their design I will continue to buy these.

I switched from top watering to this wicking system. I was afraid I would either dry my plants out completely or worse drown the roots. So far neither is happening with my coco perlite grow. I've only been using then for a little over a week so it's possible problems might still show up, but for now, my little lady is responding vigorously. Explosively. I really appreciate the size, they just exactly fit my 5 gallon fabric pot. It doesn't seem like it would fit a 7 gallon pot. Definitely up there with my light as one of the most satisfying equipment purchases I've made. Possibly an autopot would perform marginally better, but if you are working with a smaller footprint these are great. ... show more

The large access panel and 1.3 gallon reservoir are excellent!! Sturdy construction. Opportunity for improvement: I’ve had difficulty with wicking enough moisture through the wicks over time. Their design using rubber grommets with tiny holes creates a choke point that restricts nutrients (see photo #2 which shows you the wick size compared to the hole it is squeezed through). The wicks clog at the grommet easily with synthetic nutrients too. I ended up having to add larger 1/4 inch wicks to keep my planters supplied with nutrients (photo #1). Not a difficult modification to do at home, but it remains an opportunity to improve if they do a version 2.0. ... show more

I bought the AC Infinity self watering bases first and while they work, they are a pain to drain in the early stages. Such a pain that I went back to searching for an alternative. The Vivosun FlexFeed bases solve this problem completely. I love the opening so I can quickly suck up the water with my shop vac or test the pH once I start wicking.
