Bring the convenience of automated watering to your hose-end sprinklers, Drip irrigation system or soaker hose with this rugged, professional grade, easy-to-use 7-day digital timer/controller. Sophisticated functions provide worry-free watering convenience and rugged dependability for season-long outdoor use. Simple-to- set 7-day automatic programming provides added watering flexibility for up to 6-hours of watering per cycle, 2-times per day. Extra-large programming dial and readout screen make it easy to set and review watering schedules. During operation the readout screen displays program status such as: next scheduled watering cycle, and time remaining on a current cycle. Program up to 2 watering times per day on any day/days of the week with run time duration up to 6-hours. One-touch "Water Now” and “Cancel Watering” buttons allow user to override programming instantly. “Cancel Watering” feature also acts as a "Rain Delay" allowing selection of up to a 96-hour pause in watering before stored programming resumes. High-flow rate (5–12 GPM) design allows operation of up to (5) Impact Sprinklers! Ideal for use with all Rain Bird hose-end sprinklers and kits. I have had this and used it daily for a couple of weeks. It is simple to use and works well. If you have trouble operating this time/controller, then you have bigger issues. It is almost idiot-proof! One of the best features of this timer/controller is the large size of the inlet; it is not a pencil size hole like most I investigated -- it is more like a garden-hose-size inlet. It lets a lot of water through with sufficient pressure to water the garden using a rotating sprinkler (covering a semi-circle) on a tripod located about 50' from the faucet. The sprinkler needs enough pressure to trip the switch that causes it to change direction once it reaches the limit and returns in the other direction -- not all timers let enough water through to allow the sprinkler to trip the switch. THE ONLY NEGATIVE so far is related to the display (which I remedied as shown in photos) -- it needs to be kept shaded from the direct sunlight in this 100+ degree weather. I have noticed that in the afternoon when it has been exposed directly to the sun for a couple of hours, the display cannot be read -- it looks like the LCD melted and most of the area is solid black. HOWEVER, after I created a shade to block the sun from shining on the timer/controller, it stays cooler and is now readable again -- like nothing was ever wrong with it. I would buy this product again if I needed another, but I will make sure that it is shaded from day one. ... show more

This is the best hose timer in the galaxy! We bought it to help us with some major lawn rehab and maintenance going forward. I have been frustrated with every mechanical timer I've tried so far because they restrict water flow so much, but this battery powered unit still allows 5 gpm + flow thru my 5/8 x 100' long hose which is great because it means I can run a high output impact sprinkler in my front yard and water the entire lawn, without concern of forgetting to shut off the sprinkler. Great for those of us who are busy and/or easily distracted (I see a lot of squirrels).... The user interface is PERFECT. The large dial on the left allows you to toggle quickly and easily thru all the settings, and the buttons are easy to push. The display screen is easy to read so no squinting/scratching your head or second guessing about what it is your doing. You can set this puppy to water everyday, every other, or whatever, and once or twice per day depending on what you're trying to do. For newly planted grass, the twice a day is perfect. Once my new grass is established I'll be able to use this thing for "deep watering" during dry spells because the timer can be set for some really long run times, and I can set it to go off at 4 or 5 AM if I want to. My timer is getting dripped on a bit from the old spicket it's attached to, and so far it really doesn't seem to care. Maybe after a year or so it might die on me, but at around $35 I would probably just buy a new one and not be too upset about it. This is a product I can recommend to others with no reservations at all - this thing is a great buy for anyone with a need to irrigate their lawn or garden. ... show more

Got this unit as part of our new drip-irrigation set up, and liked it immediately. It's simple to set up, easy to read out in the yard, and does all we could ask. It's only for one "zone," so if you need different schedules for different areas, get two and a splitter or find one with multiple zones. Likes: Big, easy-to-read display, simple knob-and-arrow-button arrangement to set timing. You can quickly set what time of day and which days of the week the water comes on, and how long it stays on when it does. Crucially, you can also immediately set up a short "water now" cycle to test your set-up. The constant battery-level display is helpful too. Not-so-likes: After the first use, the LCD display appeared to get water in it and showed just a huge black blob. Rain Bird customer service said to return it to Amazon, but I opened it up and found no water inside, so I put it back together and tried it again. It hasn't acted up since, but that experience made me question its durability. 4 stars for an easy-to-use device that may or may not get weird on you ... show more

I bought this for my aunt who lives in an area that only allows watering twice a week during particular times of the day. Programming it was very intuitive and I had it set up within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box. It feels very sturdy in my hands. Assuming it turns on as scheduled, and I will update this review if it doesn't, it exactly suits my purpose. ... show more

So a bit of a disclaimer here: This timer was out in the full Florida Sun (and rain and afternoon seabreeze) for more than a year before the plastic broke on the female adapter side of things. Exposure to the heat, the UV light and everything else Florida weather puts items like this through likely contributed to the plastic failure. The timer outside of that was easy to operate, install, and use. I switched out the battery once in the year-plus a few weeks that I had it, so that was okay, though my Orbit Timers only require a battery change every 18 months or so. (The Orbit Timers also have metal connections that haven't failed.) Overall I expected to get more than one year and a few weeks of life out of this item. I'm replacing with another Orbit Timer. ... show more

It’s a rainbird, what more must I say? I works great! I’ve had it use for a month and no complaints. The only feature that would be nice is cycle watering rather only choosing days of the week. Cycle watering creates a dependable watering every X days whereas if you water on Mon and Thu, it creates a three - four scenario for example. And, plants do better with consistent watering. I’d also like a hose end timer with two exit ports with the ability to program each port separately. Many suppliers do it but not Rainbird or at least I haven’t seen one on Amazon.
