  • Quality Printer, Great Support, Years of Creative Bliss
Size: PLUS2
I have owned a Qidi Tech X-Plus 1 3d printer for over two year now and find this to be the best printer you can buy in its price range. I started 3d printing with a build-it-yourself kit from 2019 (Tevo). It was OK but I wanted a more serious printer for larger and higher quality prints. At a $700 price point(at the time), it is packed with many features absent in competitor offerings. If you want a quality printer that will not break the bank and the superior customer service you deserve, then look no further. Enclosure I prefer an enclosed printer as it is easier to control ambient temperatures. If you are looking to get into printing filaments such as ABS or Nylon, that have a tendency to warp, this is a great option. Usually it is hard to find an enclosed printer with a large print bed but the X-Plus has you covered with a rigid frame, stylish yet simple side panels and a massive build plate. The build plate is a 6mm thick chunk of aluminum supported by 4 guide rods and two motors. The aluminum transfers heat well and its thickness prevents any sort of warping. The build plate acts as the Z-axis whose dual motors make for smooth and accurate layer transitions. Leveling is done with 3 knobs and some software adjustments. An auto leveler would be nice but it is simple enough I do not mind. As a bonus, the print surface is a removable spring steel sheet with a textured surface sticker. It is held in place by powerful magnets in the build plate. I have never required a glue stick or such for first layer adhesion and very few prints ever failed from wrapping issues. There are removable top and side panels for maintaining chamber temperatures for higher temperature filaments but if a cooler environment is required, these can be removed and the door opened. Extruder: The extruder is standard in design but easy to service for the purpose of clearing jams or making repairs. It rides on dual X and Y axis for maximum support and print accuracy. A second extruder is included if you need temperatures up to 300C and a hardened steel nozzle. It is a little bit of a chore to change between these two as it requires completely removing the extruder (5 bolts) but this is an added value I didn’t expect. I found the filament loading and unloading process surprisingly easy with many filament spool mounting options. It comes ready to print with a spool holder on the top rear of the machine or you can opt to install it inside the enclosure. Other options are to run filament directly from a filament dryer through a ptfe tube. Your choice. Very simple, effective, and well thought out. Interface: The machine and slicer are simple but effective. The machine has a touch screen with simple controls and menus. There is not much to say. You will not get lost. I do like how you can navigate the USB drive memory and see previews of the available models. You can also pause and resume prints, as well as change filament mid run. There is a convenient USB and Ethernet port on the front of the machine for transferring files. I personally prefer to use the WiFi print option but you do need a USB drive installed to receive the files. The printer includes slicer software called Qidi Print which is pretty much a re-skin of the popular Cura slicer. You can use Cura if you want but I found the provided software to work better. Accessories: This printer has everything you need to get started. A USB drive and network cable are provided along with tools and spare parts. Power cable is plenty long. I was very impressed with the extra print surfaces, the spare extruder, and the whopping 1Kg of PLA filament. The USB drive even includes the software and some how to videos. Fantastic value. Outstanding Service: I have just recently had my first service call in the two years owning this printer. I keep up with lubricating the printer axes and removing dust and filament debris from the enclosure. Have had no issues till now. It turns out my extruder fan died which is not uncommon and was causing some temperature creep when printing ABS. I cannot say enough about how helpful Qidi Tech customer service is. This is what you want when buying a product. They were willing to replace the extruder with an upgraded version at a discounted price but were understanding and flexible with the situation after I discovered the fan problem and opted to replace just the fan instead. From there, any technical information I needed was available on demand. Though the troubleshooting capacity over email made diagnostics difficult, the technical knowledge and resources of this customer service was exceptional. Even more important, the prompt and personalized service provided was outstanding and it is nice to see a company value its customers and their needs. A shout-out to Alex for all of their help. ... show more

  • I love my qidi!
Size: PLUS2
I've owned this printer for a little over a year now (just out of warranty) and I love it. This was my first 3D printer, so I can't compare... But I know many who are jealous - especially after seeing what it can do. I've had issues for a while but knew it had to be user error. Come to find out I cracked the heat block due to my lack of knowledge in 3D printing - and yet even with a damaged hotend, it still printed beautifully! Until the nozzles started falling out & wouldn't even screw in anymore. I finally reached out to qidi support and Alex has been super patient & helpful. I honestly chose this particular printer for a fair amount of reasons, but the most important being: 1. Qidi is known for their stellar after sales support (not disappointed) 2. Qidi is one of few companies who offer enclosed industrial 3D printers 2b. within a reasonable price range 2c. to single parties (not just companies) 3. I wanted to go with a company who I could stick with as my one woman business moves up the ladder; a company which offers a more "standard" & easy to operate industrial printer but also more advanced machines capable of heavy work loads (and high res, enclosed, etc etc) 4. Works "out of box". I'm a single mom of a 3 year old who has ADHD and suspected of being on "the spectrum" (and I have aspergers, ADHD, narcolepsy, and OCD). I genuinely do not have time to tinker and did not purchase a 3D printer as a "hobby"; it was a serious business investment which I gave up literally everything to start & deal with constant ridicule and criticism over. So, needless to say that I needed something which "just works". 5. Extremely high resolution prints (for an FDM printer). 6. Despite wanting a resin printer, I worried about my child with serious behavioral issues getting into the hazardous materials & also being unable to fully exhaust all fumes - on top of proper disposal of whatever waste there might be (I didn't want to get lazy one day & kill a bunch of wildlife due to being a selfish, ignorant human). So FDM was a must. 7. Wifi (although I honestly haven't figured this bit out yet. But I honestly haven't really had the time to) 8. A little silly but.... The sleek look. I love the way my x-plus looks, all fancy in her box. It's like seeing just the silhouette of a woman... Kind of "sensual". It's simple, classy, minimalistic but packed full of features you didn't think you'd need. Like the touch screen, LED lights which can be turned on & off, fans which can be manually Operated and charcoal filters (I think... Honestly could be wrong there). I actually purchased some teeny tiny air purifiers to print with ABS but quickly realized I didn't need them at all. The fumes from ABS usually gives me an instant migraine but not with my qidi! 💙 Despite my setback (due to user error/not knowing the hotend needed to be HOT when switching out nozzles), I still love my printer and wouldn't trade it. Even if I hadn't reached out to qidi support and/or found replacement parts, I likely would have still held onto it out of love... because the x-plus truly is that good. I reeeeeally want one of the more pricey machines but have to wait until I sell (or even publish/release 😅) at least one doll I've made. It's tortureeee! I know everyone wants an ender but I fail to understand why - other than it's DIY-ability, which I will say that sadly the x-plus is lacking in. But the thing about that is: this printer honestly doesn't need any upgrades. According to all the research I've done since deciding to make this purchase, this printer already has the best parts available on the market (at least in 2022). Maybe later that'll be an issue, but I don't really see it being one for me. And I could be totally wrong! I'm not a tinkerer. I'm an artist. I use teeny nozzles (0.1-0.2) to print my dolls in even higher resolution, use only premium filament (specifically spidermaker, duramic, hatchbox, sainsmart), slow all my prints down to -20mm/s & always use the absolute lowest layer height. It takes roughly 25 hours to print a 1.5" head with 20% infill. But even without those settings or nozzles, this printer still makes everything look good. Like really, really good. I think the pics I'm uploading are actually with a severely damaged heat block/hotend, so they're not nearly as good as before... But I'll be posting more once I get my baby fixed back up. And honestly that should be a great example of just how good this printer is! Thank you, Qidi! ... show more
