  • Great 3D Printer
The media could not be loaded. The Qidi Q1 Pro is an excellent 3D printer for hobbyists and 3D printing professionals. Although the build size is a little on the small side at 245x245x245, in my experience, anything bigger results in more frequent print failures due to the failure of the printer to heat the build plate adequately. The build quality of the machine is second to none. This product prints quickly given the current 3D print technology available to hobbyists. What used to take 15 hours+ can be printed in only a couple of hours. Pros: * High build quality * Advanced features for price point (enclosed printer, heated enclosure, high temp extruder, automatic bed leveling) * Small size allows for use in office * Fast printing * Adequate build size for most functional and craft projects * Qidi Slicer software makes it easy to create the G-Code needed to print your project * Many filament and nozzle profiles are included that provide optimal settings for printing your project Cons: * Uses custom Klipper software that can't be upgraded by the end-user other than through vendor supplied firmware updates * Uses a custom screen and screen firmware instead of Klipper Screen * Custom screen is buggy - can freeze on guided utilities like filament changes requiring power cycle to recover * Automatic bed level process is slower than eddy current sensors such as Beacon 3D and not as precise * Location of spool holder is not ideal - a flush side mount or front mounted design would be more appropriate for where 3D printers typically live - on utility shelving where access to the rear of the machine is restricted * Uses small belt size for motion systems that may wear out quickly for high volume printing * Bed heater is slow to get to temperature - should use a 110v heating mat and SSR to speed heating up ... show more

  • The value of this printer is so good I ended up getting two
This is not a perfect, trouble-free printer, but it gets closer to that than any printer I've ever had. When things go wrong, expect top tier customer service. I have two so far, and I keep stopping myself from getting a third. I have a small print farm with 7 printers, 3 of them are Qidi (the third is an X-Plus 3), and they are the brand I trust the most. You can already read the stats sheet, I don't need to repeat everyone talking about how you get so many features for the price. I'll start with the cons: 1) There is no built-in air filter for ABS and ASA printing. This is not a major problem for me because my high temp materials of choice are Nylon and PC, but it could be a concern for others. You can print a solution yourself, including one shared by Qidi. 2) The spool side mount is unstable and wobbly. Not a major problem for me because I print from dryboxes and don't use spool holders. 3) It is wifi-only. It is adequate, but I prefer wired connectivity for reliability. My X-Plus 3 has an ethernet port, which is why the Q1 Pro's lack of one pains me. My other non-Qidi printers are also wifi-only, so I might be unfair. There is one oddity I have to note: One of my hotends leaked. It took me a few weeks to notice. The leaked plastic took the shape of the silicone cover and was so smooth it looked like it was supposed to be part of the hotend itself. I haven't heard anyone else having that problem, and my other Q1 Pro is completely fine. I had even upgraded my X-Plus 3 to the same hotend very recently (because of the Q1!), and it was also completely fine. This feels like a strange fluke. Regardless, Qidi's customer service rectified the problem and sent out a replacement hotend within a day (it still hasn't arrived, as I only reported it 2 days from the time of writing). That lets me segue to Qidi's excellent customer service. This is the only time I've had to email them about a problem with the Q1 so far, and they were prompt. I've already emailed them a few times about my X-Plus 3 in my full year of owning it and had the same prompt and helpful responses. This is why I will buy more of their printers in the future. I get treated like an industrial business client and not a tinkering hobbyist. No other consumer- or prosumer-grade printer company acts like this towards their customers. And now the pros: 1) Customer service is excellent. See above 2) The automatic Z-offset is actually good. I'm spoiled by this feature. I wish I could backfit it into my X-Plus 3. I have a printer from a different brand that also has automatic Z-offset, and the Q1 Pro's is way more reliable. I have heard horror stories about some other printers that claim to have automatic Z-offset, but the Q1 Pro has a good one. 3) The filament runout sensor is just above the extruder. This means I waste only a few mm of filament when it finally triggers. This is a premium feature I've only seen in higher-end DIY printers, almost all consumer-grade printers I've seen have it further along in the filament path. 4) The tangle detection sensor is way more crucial than I thought it was. The runout sensor is only half of the equation. Some filament manufacturers tie the end of the spool or deform it in some way and it can get stuck in the filament path. This can ruin prints even with the runout sensor active because it will still detect the filament even though it stopped moving! I feel completely safe with spools running low on the Q1 pro the way I don't with my other printers that also have runout sensors. 5) Their slicer profiles are on point. A lot of companies neglect this. I actually modify my non-Qidi slicer profiles with inspiration from the X-Plus 3 and Q1 Pro profiles. The print quality is the best among all my printers. My conclusion: It's great! It's not flawless, but it's a workhorse printer with minimal problems and quick resolutions when they pop up. It's more a professional or industrial printer than a hobbyist maker one, but priced for the latter. ... show more
