Update: Adding the 5th star back in. I found the way through Amazon to message them and they replied super quickly. Not only did they provide a link to someone selling the replacement tube (they didn't have any in stock) but they gave us a little money back to help us out with it. They are also sending us a replacement metal cap for free. Neither of those things did they need to do. GREAT Customer Service!! Huge thanks to Eva and the team. ----- For the one time we got to use this, we loved it. Not too hard to put together, I did it myself (140lb, 5'7" female with a ladder) for all but a couple of times when I really just needed an extra set of hands. Overall decently made, we had two pieces that were a bit off, (not sure if they were flaws or by design) but they don't impact the appearance or functionality. One was the metal base that holds the propane tank had a slight crease in it. The other was that one of the hooks on the metal protective grate went the opposite way to all the others (all hooks were down except this one which was bent up). I managed to still put it all together, so no harm. Flame was beautiful. Put out just enough heat as expected. Didn't take any pictures of it lit as we were too busy enjoying it. The next day, after it cooled down, we covered it and went about our days. A few days later we got a windstorm, 20-30mph winds. We had tucked the unit up by our fence and next to the house, we had taken the propane tank out as we are currently sharing it with our grill (slated to get a second tank, just hadn't done it yet)....the wind blew the unit over in the middle of the night. The cover (despite not being the best of quality) managed to save the unit from scratches! But the top heat deflector, which took the brunt of the fall, folded in and the glass tube broke. It is our fault, for not having the propane tank in it, as the extra weight probably would have prevented the fall, as would most likely taking the cover off for the wind to go through the slats. So, we are super disappointed to only have gotten one use out of it! We took one star off because nowhere does it have contact information to the company for issues/replacement parts (not in the amazon page, nor in the instruction manual that comes with it). We are hoping to replace the tube and deflector for not too much money considering it's now a $280 decoration. So, while we recommend the unit overall, we also highly recommend you anchor/tie the unit down in a windstorm, especially if using the cover, to prevent it from falling over and breaking! ... show more

    • Classy heater, takes some time to set up
This heater is a clear step up from the ones I see in my neighbors' yards - the ones with the dented tops because the wind blew them over. It's heavy and solid. I was going to use a bungee cord to secure it to the side of my house, but I don't think that will be necessary. The heater does have little pseudopod leg attachments that can be bolted to a deck -- I'm not going to do that because I want to be able to move it out of the way when not in use. (Comes with wheels on one side but not super easy to roll because of the weight, especially with a full gas tank.) Assembly took several hours. It's not terribly complicated, though the directions aren't always ideal and the small illustrations are hard to see. Basically, though, it's just a matter of the knee bone connecting to the thigh bone, so to speak. There were moments when I felt a bit challenged but nothing too serious. The numerous screws, bolts, etc., come beautifully packaged in little plastic trays on a single cardboard sheet -- no having to hunt around for the part you need. Also included: a small screwdriver and a little wrench, so you don't need to have any tools of your own (though I did find that a longer-handled screwdriver made the job easier). The heater is easy to light and the flame is easily controlled. It's lovely to watch the fire tube -- looks like we are in a fancy restaurant. Today is warm so I can't really assess the heating power but it appears quite strong. Next cool evening I'll invite over some friends and fire up the heater! ADDING A FOLLOW-UP. I had trouble with the gas line - there was a leak where the hose attaches to the regulator. I contacted customer service (through Amazon Support) and they responded promptly and mailed me out a replacement right away. (I did decide to substitute a little heavier hose with a pressure gauge so I could tell how much gas is left in the tank -- easily purchased through Amazon.) Used the heater with friends over the weekend in cool New England spring weather and everyone around the table was warm enough. ... show more

We are very happy with this heat lamp. It's a pretty sight at night and for how we use it, seems to provide enough heat. We do have to reposition it occasionally but we're happy with the heat and the look. It was an expert level assembly in the sense that it's detailed and complicated but very doable if you go slow and follow the instructions step by step. Nice looking at night but the rated BTUs are misleading. If you need to heat an area then this design falls short of the conventional design. I don't know where they measure the BTUs but comparing the equivalent BTU rated conventional patio heater this one falls short. Moreover dealing with this company to get your money back is a nightmare. ... show more

Knock the chill off and add some attractive heaters to your outdoor patio at the same time. The heaters came with instructions and the screws and wrench to assemble. Add your 20lb propane tank and be up and running in no time. Nice product for the money.
