This was more informative that I even expected. The CD contains many key documents that more than pays for the price of the book. The content is an easy read that covers many of the key points of property management. I am new to the property management game so everything I can learn is welcomed. I have one apartment I am renting so some of the materials regarding things like choosing a property manager is not appropriate in my case, but it is still good to learn about. Great job Mr. Griswold. ... show more

  • This is a good book. This author knows his stuff
This is a good book. This author knows his stuff. I enjoyed reading every chapter. It is especially ideal for the newer property manager or person looking into larger scale apartment management. He is an expert with major credentials. About the only caveat I would add is that it is more for a large scale, professional property manager than a small time hands on landlord. For example, this is more a book for those working the phones not unclogging the toilets. More examples, he often mentions the "staff" will handle maintenance or that tenants can go to the "front office". A small landlord (say ten units or less) will have neither. I assumes he has a staff of both managers and maintenance people and that looks the case from his website. So for the small-scale hands on landlord, also pair a "landlording books" like Leigh Robinsons' or any solid newer ones out there for small scale part time landlords. Again, great book on big picture of working with tenants, communicating, showing units, etc but not so much about the details of cleaning and painting units. Also, on the kindle I did not see all the forms. So maybe go with the book or he cites American Apartment Association and you maybe could find them there (again, more a large scale apt owner manager book than one for the guy with a duplex down the street). But overall I liked this (and would maybe get it paperback for max results). It is very good for the Dummies series (which is hit and miss for me).. ... show more

  • The Bible for Property Management
Great book, with loads of practical advice. I recommended it to my son, who is looking to enter the property management field. Robert Griswold is a property management expert who is of great help to anyone new to the field or anyone experienced looking to pick up a few pointers.

  • Great book
Great book, very informative. Hope to put the book to the test in the upcoming year. This is however, one of the better references we have found. We checked a bunch of books out of the library, and the prior version was the best book we found at the library after reading half a dozen or so. We bought this one to have the up to date forms and up to date information. ... show more

  • Read it front to back
We recently bought an investment property for the first time. This book provides helpful information regarding all aspects of being a landlord. The author warns you of pitfalls that are easy to fall into, particularly if you're trying to be a nice landlord. The pros and cons are very informative. Make sure to check out the enclosed disc. There are some useful templates. ... show more

  • Should be called Residential Property Management
I wish they would make it more obvious that this book was focused on residential real-estate and for that purpose it might be just fine. If you want a commercial office focus, as I did, don't make my mistake. This is not the book for you.

Great book with lots of practical pointers and tips for rental property management. The CD/Download is worth the price of the book. There must be over 200 documents or templates for management, rental agreements, invoices, etc contained in the material. The author takes a very conversational approach to writing and the book was an easy read. I took a lot away from the book and will certainly be using the material provided in the download. ... show more
