  • Outstanding ricer
Color: Black
We volunteered to make 15 lbs of mashed potatoes for a large gathering and bought this ricer to make it a bit easier. After boiling the spuds and cutting them in 2-3 inch pieces I was able to put two or three pieces in this ricer, give it a squeeze, and the riced potatoes fairly shot out into the bowl. I didn't time it but the ricing job was done in short order and it was really easy! Now don't get me wrong, it does take a bit of effort to do this, but MUCH less that would be necessary to do with a typical pounder/masher. I often make lefse for the family during the Christmas season and this ricer will make that job a lot easier too. Get one. Only used it this one time so far so no info on how durable it may be but it is well made and doesn't flex at all while ricing so my guess is it'll last. To clean it just rinse it off a bit and stick it in the top shelf of the dishwasher and let it rip. ... show more

  • Wow!
Color: Black
I wish I would’ve purchased this gem a lot sooner….it’s 100% stainless steel and makes the smoothest mashed potatoes, sweet and white! I used this for the baked sweet potatoes for sweet potato pie and it took seconds to put the filling together. It’s also easy to clean! The plunger part swings all the way out so you can easily scrape bits off and rinse all the parts. It’s dishwasher safe, which is a must in todays world. Please note it’s quite large. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but it’s bigger than I’d imagined. I don’t mind at all bc it needs to have some heft to it. It’s a better quality than the one I was gonna buy from the Williams Sonoma store (theirs was partially plastic and double the cost). It’s gonna be great for squeezing out the bits of herbs from oils and tinctures as well. ... show more

  • Love this! Excellent product!
Color: Black
Pros: Consistent Texture: This potato ricer produces very smooth and consistent mashed potatoes. The small holes in the ricer help break down the potatoes effectively, creating a velvety texture. Easy to Use: This potato ricer is very straightforward to use. You place the cooked potatoes into the chamber, and by pressing down, the mashed potatoes are forced through the small holes. This process requires minimal effort. Versatile: While primarily used for potatoes, I've used this potato ricer also for other vegetables, such as carrots, turnips, or squash. It's a versatile tool for various recipes. Less Gluey Texture: Unlike mashing with a regular potato masher or electric mixer, a ricer doesn't overwork the potatoes, which can lead to a gluey texture. It keeps the starches in the potatoes from being overactivated, resulting in lighter and fluffier mashed potatoes. I learned that from Gordon Ramsey! Easy to Clean: This potato ricer is easy to clean, as it has removable parts that can be placed in the dishwasher or cleaned by hand. I've done both with this one. Cons: Limited to Mashed Texture: While potato ricers excel at producing smooth, creamy mashed potatoes, they aren't suitable for dishes where you want a chunky or rustic texture. For those cases, a masher might be more appropriate. Storage: Potato ricers in general can be bulky and may take up space in your kitchen. Look for models with a compact design if you have limited storage. Not Ideal for Large Batches: If you need to mash a significant quantity of potatoes, using a potato ricer can be time-consuming compared to using an electric mixer. But the flavor is the pay-off. In summary, this potato ricer is an excellent addition to your kitchen if you appreciate perfectly smooth and creamy mashed potatoes and other vegetables. Its ease of use and ability to maintain a desirable texture make it a valuable tool for creating delicious side dishes. ... show more

  • Game Changer!
Color: Black
Purchased after seeing a cook use it while making mash potatoes. 1) I didn't have to peel my potatoes which is the worst and most time consuming part of Thanksgiving for me. 2) Eliminated ALL LUMPS! No lumpy potatoes this year! If you like some lumps, this isn't the product for you! 3) I still used my hand held mixer to blend in milk, butter, etc., into my mashed potatoes but only because I made such a large amount. For a regular dinner, there would be no need to use a the mixer. A good whisk would be perfect. The only thing I would change to the design is being able to take it apart for easier cleaning and storage. But it's still worth every penny. ... show more

  • Makes nice smooth mashed potatoes
Color: Black
Potatoes turn out so good - no lumps - and they even seem to taste better. The first time I used it, I didn’t cook the potatoes quite long enough and so I couldn’t squeeze the handles together hard enough to make it work. Also I tried to put too many pieces through at once. But now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, I love this ricer. I’ve also used it to squeeze the juice from an orange (cut in half); and that worked fine. ... show more

  • Saved My Thanksgiving Potatoes!
Color: Black
I ordered another brand and it was automatically returned prior to me receiving it due to it being damaged. I panicked because it was a few days away from needing it. I ordered this one. I was not disappointed. I made some of the best mashed potatoes I have ever made. I mixed yukon golds with russets. This worked like a champ. The skin stayed in the unit and was easy to remove. It was sturdy. Worked like a champ. Looking forward to experimenting with this. ... show more

  • good value
Color: Black
I have always just used a masher for potatoes b/c I felt I did not need another gadget. But at this price, thought I would try it this year- after reading several recipes. It was easier than I thought, not a lot of effort. And easy to throw in the dishwasher. I am not sure it works better than just mashing yourself, but it would eliminate any lumps if that was to occur. ... show more

  • Great Ricer
Color: Black
This potato ricer is a great tool that I didn't know I needed. I used it for Thanksgiving meal. One complaint I have about it, which may be something that all ricers have, is that the potatoes squish out the sides and I have to scrape it up over and over and put it back in. I suggest using a larger pot/bowl to do this as my potatoes were everywhere. It's also uncomfortable on the hands as it has straight metal underneath the handles. All in all, this rice crooker turned my mashed potatoes into a perfectly consistent whipped dream. ... show more
