The sharpening tool works great! I was sceptical because I'd used similar sharpeners before on my knifes and wasn't too thrilled with the results. Decided on a whim to give this ago as a last sirch effort before having my knives sharpened for me but it ended up being perfect. My knives are back to razor sharp and the glove was a great bonus. The bottom of the sharpener has this foam that grips to surfaces so it didn't even slip when I tried on purpose. Great sharpener for a decent price.     • A great tool!
I have sharpening stones, and a long sharpening steel, and a can opener that sharpens, but this is the best! It really is fast and easy. I got it primarily because I have a really good Japanese cleaver and nothing was getting it sharp, plus I've some old, ratty cheapos that have resisted sharpening. This little tool does them all, quickly and well. I haven't tried the scissors yet, but suspect that will work well also. I really am excited about it because since it's so quick and easy, there will no longer be dull knives hanging around and annoying me and my arthritic hands. ... show more

    • Easy to use but doesn't work well
Ok I figured I would try to use one of the sharpeners that you just have to swipe your blade through instead of a rod or stone which takes time and a little skill to do. Well sorry to say this isn't the one to buy. It looks good, it sounds like it should work it just doesn't do a very good job of actually sharpening the knife. I tried 10 times in coarse, then medium, then fine. Nope. I tried 3 times in each, Nope. I tried one time in each Nope. I tried 1 in coarse 10 in medium and 10 in fine Nope. SO I've come to the conclusion that this thing doesn't work well. ... show more

Used this to replace an old sharpen of similar design. Excellent in that it has three grit levels for sharpening knives with the final one nearly capable of putting on razor edge. Also has a slot for sharpening scissors that I have yet to use. I dug out an old, very dull knife and quickly brought it to a fair edge. Like all sharpeners of this design you can't expect the sort of edge you get with traditional sharpening stones and equipment but it gets close and is quick and easy.     • Exceeded my expectations - Very EASY to Use
I am a long-time oilstone honer. Traditional sharpening was taught to me as a young boy. This tool is GREAT! The old way will result in a keen edge that is longer lasting. The tradeoff of doing a very quick dressing on Saturday mornings versus 2-3 hours once a month awesome. Both methods result in a sharp and safer knife edge. The fast & easy one needs weekly care.     • Safer design and multiple sharpening slots
I have never used a knife sharpener before but my knives are very dull so this was a necessary purchase. I was a little scared to sharpen a knife, but I think the way this product is designed, with the bar available to hold and secure the product, I think is much safer then a regular knife sharpener. It comes along with a glove which helps me feel more secure so it’s a nice bonus. Being inexperienced in sharpening knives, I was a little unsure which knife slots to use. I read the directions but I have a hard time with processing instructions and do better from watching a video or having someone explain it to me, but even with my lack of experience I found it pretty simple and fun to use and it did seem to visible that it sharpens my knives:) And I loved that it also had a special scissor slot for sharpening. I received the package on time and even though I was surprised by the lightness of the product, once I used it, it worked well, my knife was fine and ready to use pretty fast. It also comes with a protective glove and with a clear instructions to help during the whole process. The packaging is the right size to fit the sharpener, the glove and the instructions which is good to help the environment. So, overall, is a good product and it worked well. This is the same sharpener as several $12-$20 listings here on Amazon. They look the same, packaging is the same, sharpening slots/rods are identical etc... I think these are all from the same factory just resold under different brands here. Does a decent job, puts a reasonably sharp edge on a kitchen knife in a minute or two with minimal effort. You can definitely get a better edge with whetstones or a much more expensive and complicated system but for 4 bucks it cannot be beat IMO. ... show more
