The cutting board was purchased on August 16, 2013 and received today, August 23. The $22 White Stanton Trading 18 by 24 by half-Inch thick Cutting Board is really sturdy and big. It came in a very big box so I can see why it is shipped separately from the rest of your order. Before ordering I had measured out where it would fit. Conclusion was on top of our gas stove - takes up three quarters of the stove top and will be great for rolling out pie crusts and pizza dough. Just won't be able to preheat the oven until the cutting board is removed. Some customer reviews, (mostly, but not limited to, 2011), said the board they received was not a half inch thick. Ours is. We measured the board and it is true to size. According to the package this board is part of the Stanton Trading Company's "Colour Coded PE Cutting Board Cross Contamination System." (Made in Taiwan.) White Cutting Board is for Bakery and Dairy Yellow Cutting Board is for Raw Poultry and Seafood Green Cutting Board is for Vegetables and Fruit Brown Cutting Board is for Cooked Meats Red Cutting Board is for Raw Meats Blue Cutting Board is for Raw Fish and Seafood (These colors are also available on Amazon) Although the web site says "Dishwasher safe" keep in mind that the packaging says "Wash in warm, not boiling water." So, as long as your water temp is less than 212F it should be fine. Under notes the packaging also says: Keep away from open flame Do not stand hot pans on the surface Under "Advantages" it lists: Complies with hygiene recommendations on colour coding for food preparation (see my color comments above) Safe, hygienic and easy to clean Will not crack, chip or rot Will not blunk knife (remember, this was written in Taiwan as blunk and is probably a simple misspelling of blunt) This is a great board, and if it the future we find there are problems with it, this review will be updated. ... show more

    • Cutting Board Does Not Lay Flat
Color: White
The size and weight are great - but the cutting board rocked and would not lay flat when I used it. The cutting board is very large, so I didn't need to use it right away after receiving it. So, by the time I used it, it was no longer under warranty. I wrote the seller to explain that I only used it once, but they would not replace it because it was technically out after the warranty period. Rather than send me a new board, they suggested that I place weights on the 'rocking end" to try and flatten it out. That helps for short term but did not offer a permanent solution. Seems I need to weight it down now and then. CONCLUSION:: If you are going to purchase this cutting board, open it right away and make sure it does not rock when you are using it and contact the vendor right away while you can still return it rather than to wait like I did. ... show more

    • Makes food prep so much easier!

I got tired of using tiny cutting boards and ending up with half the food falling off onto the counter when chopping lots of veggies or large quantities of meat, so I decided to invest in something big enough to easily handle a whole head of cabbage or a bunch of chicken breasts. So far this has been great! It gives me tons of space to work on, and I can even use it for multiple smaller items so that I don't have to use multiple cutting boards or stop and wash them while doing prep. Keep in mind that this will not fit easily in a double sink, so washing IS a pain, and you can't pick this up to carry it to the stove to dump items straight into a pan or pot, and you can't store it in a cabinet, but those are reasonable trade offs for me. My only regret is that I had not thought to buy one of these years ago! ... show more

    • Made this into a cover for our large camper sink - love it!

We cut this down with a tablesaw to fit on top of our camper double sink because we needed more prep space. We then shaved the corners with a scraping tool very easily. We opted to leave the board as a rectangle so it covers both sinks but the larger bowl of the sink is not covered in the back by the cutting board rather than cutting a curve in it to fit the deeper sink bowl. I think it helps the sink "breathe" (and not stink). We keep the faucet neck turned to the side so that if it is accidentally turned on, water will flow directly through the opening into the sink and not on the board (and onto the counter, floor, etc). I didn't want to pay this much, but it has turned out to be a valuable investment easy project. ... show more

    • Need a large cutting board. Check out this one. Works very well.

I cut up spare ribs to make St. Louis cut ribs. I always had trouble with the meat hanging over the edge onto my counter with my smaller board. This one is great for size. It could use a blood groove. It is totally flat with now groove so if you have a lot of fluid it will run off. Clean up is easy with a bleach spray to keep it sanitary. Thick ness is good too. Could be thicker but I am sure that would add to the cost. I found some silicone stick on buttons to use as feet to keep it stable on the counter under heavy use. With out the feet it might slide around a bit. Overall a great cutting board. Actually measure your surface before buying so you can see what you are going to place it on. 18" might not sound that big but you should still measure. ... show more
