I've used this Presto 16" electric Skillet now for 3 weeks, and just love it. There are only two of us in our household so I considered the 12", but am so glad I opted to go with the larger size because you'll need it if you're cooking for even 3 people or if you want to keep foods separate while cooking. The long rectangular shape (vs circular or square) makes it much easier to keep individual foods apart while cooking. Example - shape is especially helpful when cooking things like eggs, individual hamburger patties, hashbrowns, chinese fried somen noodles, Chinese fried rice, or when you want to cook different meats in the same pan at the same time but without blending juices - like shrimp and sausage for jambalaya. And you don't need to pull out the biggest pan in your arsenal just to lightly brown one of those huge flour burritos. (Husband loves burritos). The skilled holds one big one and quickly browns each side. PLUS the cleanup is so much easier (just wipe it out) than with a stove pan. Must say -- I will never give up on my cast iron for certain things . . . but this skillet is one of the best I've ever owned -- because of the WAY it cooks. It is also becoming my go-to for cooking the individual ingredients that go into the many Chinese dishes I cook, and the rice portion of fried rice now goes in here instead of my WOK to fry. Breakfast is great cooked in this skillet. Eggs fry beautifully with or without added grease/butter. Bacon crisps. And . . . I can't say enough about how wonderful the Hash Browns turn out -- can't explain why, but they are so much better than when I cook them on the stove. In this Presto cooker, they are thin, crispy but also cooked inside. That alone has been worth the price of admission but it's worked well with all the meals I've tried. Tues night is breakfast at my house for family. This skilled is a great addition for that evening especially. So far I'm finding the skillet heats very evenly all over the surface despite comments from others. When simmering, it does start/stop bubbling, but it's designed to do this (read instructions). The skillet comes to temperature VERY quickly, and simmers, fries, and even steams effectively. Haven't yet tried cooking any desserts in here. One of the best features I like vs stove cooking is one that isn't even mentioned -- that is -- that there are fewer food odors produced that linger in the room than stove cooking, and even using the same cooking oil, there is less smoke produced. Yep - I'd buy this again. The ONLY downside I've yet found is that it is large, but considering how well it cooks, I think I'll just rearrange the cupboards to make room. ... show more

We make a lot of things on a frying pan, from breakfast to dinners. We usually use a variety of pans from cast iron to a non-stick pan/skillet. I was trying to make life easier on my wife and all of us, but giving her more cooking options and a larger cooking surface, so I decided to try an electric skillet. I had one a long time ago, but I just stopped using one. There's many of options, and while I'm not opposed to spending money on a quality of products, mostly all of them, even the more expensive options received negative reviews and those reviews were mostly centered around hot and cold spots on the cooking surface, and the thermostats turning off the heating elements when they reach their desired temps. Which, I'm quite certain that's what they're supposed to do, but anyway....After reading many customer reviews and product reviews by "experts" and rating companies, I decided on this product. I must say, that it has not disappointed us. We use it almost daily, sometimes twice a day. We've used it for almost a year for just about everything that you'd throw in a frying pan. This product works great. Zero complaints. It cooks the food fast and evenly. If there's a cold spot or a hot spot, we haven found it yet! The temp seems accurate, consistent, and evenly dispersed. It cleans up nicely, and so far the non-stick surface has yet to become worn. It stores away fairly nicely as well. New item not used. 3rd I've bought. Love this product. Price keeps rising. Easy to clean and store. The coating eventually over time. I wash with paper towel and use only wood or plastic utensils. I lay a towel on the bottom so it doesn't get scratched when putting the base and the plug in for storage. I actually use a little fabric crown bag to store the plug so it doesn't scratch the skillet. It's fairly lightweight. The heating's pretty good, but not necessarily perfectly even. I'd say it's pretty durable with the exception of the coating, But I'm sure just with constant use even delicate use it's going to eventually deteriorate due to heat. While the Teflon is intact it's really good as a nonstick surface. This current one I purchased came bent and its box even though it was new. I was able to take some pliers and straighten it out. ... show more

I am a cook. I've been cooking since I was a child. I've gone through a lot of appliances that come and go. Some items were great on paper, but didn't hold up to heavy every day use. I am known with as being a great cook from our family and friends. Having excellent cooking utensils, makes cooking fun and enjoyable. Telfon items soon peeled and became unsafe to use. Not this wonderful skillet. I own one for my camper and one for my kitchen and I have also given them as wedding gifts. I've never had any problems with the coating coming off. They cook evenly, they store compactly compared to other skillets. One of the nicest features is being able to put it into my dishwasher. The part that you don't put in is the control plug. It comes out clean and all the extra parts fold and store in the skillet. If you choose to get one, enjoy it, I love cooking with mine. My children will be fighting over my kitchen treasures when complete my time on earth.😉 ... show more

It's a great size skillet. Heats up quickly. Cleaning skillet is a breeze. I love it. The only fault I can find is that the side handles are a bit flimsy, so if you're constantly folding it for easy storage you'll want to be careful. I have a storage area for it so I don't have to fold it down after each use, so for me that's not a problem. If you are someone that likes a large skillet for quick meals, french toast, grilled cheese, etc., you'll love this skillet. ... show more
