    • Not for fine scribing!
I suppose if you're trying to scribe a very rough outline with cutoff material more than an inch (that is, if the wasted material is going to be a lot) then you might find this tool useful. I did not! I thought that the bearing end would make scribing for cabinet placement easier. While the bearing part did in fact work, the amount of cutoff would have resulted in a lot of unnecessary waste. This is due to the fact that the tips on this thing are very long compared to using, say, a compass for scribing, and the way this is designed the pencil can simply never get close enough to the edge to do anything even near a fine scribe. For cabinet work, for furniture building, well, for nearly any kind of woodworking that I do - this tool is simply a waste of money for me.
