  • Truly Amazing and Effective Knee Brace for A Long Distance Running
Color: Black Size: Medium
I run a long distance and have recently developed a severe "runner's knee" on both sides of my knees. I already have Osgood-Schlatter disease on my left knee which I also fractured (and has healed) last year, so realized that I'd need a good knee support if I run more than 10 miles. I have tried THREE (3) knee support braces/compression sleeves including "PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve" for that purpose, and wanted to list them for comparison. (1) Breg "FreeRunner". Formerly prescribed for the fracture and designed for an athlete/runner to help with their rehab. It did a great job staying in place during my 13-mile run. But it did NOT completely keep my knee pain-free as it normally would with stairs and biking. I started to feel the same discomfort --> disturbing pain around 10 miles. The brace is bulky so occasionally rubbed against the other thigh - which is a big NO-NO. (2) PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve (this product): This is a BRACE that is in a form of a compression sleeve. It holds my kneecap in place, protects my Osgood-Schlatter bump (bone protrusion), prevents abnormal gait due to the uneven pulls by the thigh muscles, keeps the optimal temperature inside, allows FULL range of motion. I can flex my knee all the way. It is nice and tight but never uncomfortable. I wore this on my problem left knee and ran a full marathon race this past weekend. It stayed on without ever sliding/rolling down or chafing for the entire 26.2 miles and I did not have to worry or think about it. Most importantly - Absolutely NO PAIN during and post race. I was SO amazed. (3). Physix Gear Knee Support Brace: this is more of a firm compression knee sleeve than a brace. It did also an amazing job in protecting my right knee which was suffering runner's knee. It fits like your favorite compression knee-high sock with no limit in movement and is definitely a more comfortable wear than PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve (#2). But the anti-slip grips of this knee sleeve at the top is tighter than PowerLix's and may feel a bit too tight. It is however never uncomfortable and the sleeve stayed on without rolling or chafing for the entire 26.2 miles. It kept my right knee totally PAIN-FREE during and post race. [OVERALL] Both "PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve" (this product) & "Physix Gear Knee Support Brace" did an amazing job and are highly recommended for long-distance runners. They stabilize the knee joint and prevent pain/inflammation by right support and compression but never restrict the movement or stop the blood flow - even for hours! *Sizing: I took the measurements 4 & 5 inches above the top of the BENT KNEE in a sitting position. They fell between 15.3 -15.7 inch. So according to the sizing chart provided by the company, I got a MEDIUM for "PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve" and a SMALL for "Physix Gear Knee Support Brace". They fit perfectly. *Length: According to the product specification, "PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve" is a bit longer than "Physix Gear Knee Support Brace". But due to the very firm fabric of PoweLix and very stretchy fabric of Physix, Physix knee sleeve ends up slightly taller than PoweLix when I wore them. *Color: Grey/Black for PowerLix (this product) is almost entirely black (see photo - upper right). It doesn't look like the product photo on this webpage and thought I got a wrong product! Not sure about Blue which I didn't get. I hope they both last long!!! Thank you for reading my long review :-) -------------- UPDATE 12/18/2023 ----------------- I'm still using POWERLIX Leg Sleeve (this product) and have run 7 marathons and hundreds of runs with them since the first purchase in 2018. Nothing wrong with running with knee braces although some sports experts may preach that you need to train your own muscles and correct your form and such. You've got your personal reasons for needing special support for your knees, and these sleeves do the job. I replace the sleeves every year and am on #5 :) ... show more

  • These got me through a week at Disney with no pain
Color: Pink Size: X-Large
I'm not a runner, lifter, etc. I'm a sedentary, overweight, senior citizen. I have no cartilage in my left knee and have been putting off knee replacement my doctor has recommended. In preparation for a family trip to Disney World I decided to try a knee sleeve. I bought a selection to try before I went and these worked well in my trial run. So, I got a couple more of these for the trip. I wore them all day (10-12 hours) at every park. Amazing! No knee pain. Without these my knee aches if I go to the mall for an hour. I'm not saying they are perfect - it's still a struggle to get up and down stairs (and why does Disney have so many stairs on EVERY ride?) But, aside from stairs, I had no knee pain. They were comfortable to wear, and didn't bunch up behind my knee. I only needed to adjust them once or twice in the entire trip, and that was after trying to get out of some of the lower rides (Space Mountain). I could even do Tron and Pandora with no problems. So, I highly recommend these. ... show more

  • Good quality construction, stays put, I like the outlines for placement on the kneecap.
Color: Black Size: X-Large
Good quality item. I have intermittent knee pain and I find this item comfortable, and it helps to keep the area warm and supported until it passes. The item stays put and the outline embossed on it helps me locate the brace correctly over the kneecap. It is comfortable under clothes and I hardly feel it throughout the day. It does not bind at the back of the knee. It has no top or bottom specifically so it is easy to put on. ... show more

  • Breathable, mildly supportive, but very flexible and comfortable.
Color: Dark Grey Size: XX-Large
My knee issues: meniscus tear, no padding left in inner part of the right knee, just bone on bone with arthritis and bone spurs everywhere, have been told total knee replacement is inevitable. My temporary solution is to look for a knee brace. I purchased the XXL and have 23.5" thighs Day one Didn't have on long, was oppressively tight, couldn't pull it high enough on my thigh for it to fit the knee properly, kept rolling down. Day two Still tight, but was able to pull to the correct knee placement, wore for a few hours to break it in. Day three Wore all day in Florida Summer, no issues with rolling, stayed in place well. Extremely comfortable and the knit allowed my leg to breathe all day, actually where the brace was actually felt cool when there was a breeze. Only problem was I still had a sharp pain in my knee every time I put weight on that leg, so I may need an unloader brace. Pros Light weight Breathable Flexible Comfortable even in Florida heat Cons Wish it were just a little more supportive Wish it were 4-6" longer and an inch wider. Bottom line, 5 stars for someone looking for MILD support. Not as supportive as neoprene braces, but infinitely more flexible and cooler so that it could be comfortably during Florida Summer activity. UPDATE I have tried MANY compression sleeves, and this one has the most support in just the sleeve, so much so I bought another one to alternate wear while the first one is being washed. I use it for when I am around the house. If I am going to be standing or walking for long periods of time, I have to put on my unloader brace. Top 3 favorite compression sleeves POWERLIX Knee Brace Support ASIN: B07P2XSK5X Provides the best support of any compression sleeve I have tried, I have had it the longest and it shows the least wear, and it was one of the least expensive (11.99 each on sale). PowerLix Compression Knee Sleeve ASIN: B07B3VPD3H Provides the 2nd best support, but has an excellent range of motion and is extremely comfortable, so much so, I wear them to bed when my knee is in too much pain to sleep. (14.99 each on sale) Mava Sports Knee Compression Sleeve Support ASIN: B078W85Z9J This is what I use as an undersleeve for my unloader brace. I have tried MANY, and while I wish this one was 2” to 4” longer, it still works the best for all day comfort under a brace. If you are just using it as a compression sleeve, I would recommend the above two for that purpose. This one has shown signs of wear after wearing less than 30 days, it has started to pill a little, and the elastic has started to unravel in spots, but its still the best under brace I have found. • Product well made but it did not work in my case
Color: Black Size: X-Large
The item was well made. However, it kept slipping while I was walking, and I needed to adjust it constantly. It might work for others, but it did not work for me, so I purchased a different one.
