  • Not a pro kit, but a good starter kit
Size: PTK031
Like other reviewers have said, this is really a kit for beginners, before they start to mess around with real skin - which you shouldn't do until you've had some kind of apprenticeship anyway, so obviously the only thing missing here is aftercare and stuff that might help you on real skin. Let that be your deterrent here. It's a nice little kit that includes a lot of everything except for practice skin. The wide variety of ink colors is a bonus - many kits only include just black or more limited colors. But please remember - don't use any of this on a person unless you're like 150% sure it's safe and from a known source. Get more skin, though - there are only a couple of pieces here and you'll want more. I'm still messing around with fake skin so you'll need to check the pro reviewers here to get a feel for this in a real shop environment, but this seems great for my limited needs. ... show more

  • Decent starter kit
Size: PTK015
This is a decent tattoo kit with a battery-powered motor, so I can give this a good recommendation as a starter kit. The price is very affordable and it ends up being a lot more usable than some of the cheaper corded guns. The tattoo gun is cheap, but overall looks to be well made. It's a bit thinner on the barrel than some others, but you can correct that with the included cloth tape. The depth adjustment has no positive clicks, which I am not a fan of, but it's serviceable. The battery unit is decent with power adjustments, charging port, and adjusts quickly and easily. Not sure how strong the battery will last overall, but no concerns over it as a starter unit. Rounding out the kit, you get cloth tape, gloves, ink cups, bibs, transfer paper and some tattoo skins. Beyond that stuff, you also have a very nice compliment of inks, including a large bottle of black - because let's be honest, you're doing to be doing black the most, and most importantly - a really nice selection of a variety of needles including round liners and mags. Also, there's some soap. Everything looks fine enough to startup on fake skins and see if you have a feel for it. I wouldn't advocate using this on human skin to be clear, but you should probably spend 6 months to a year working on fake skin before you ever try for a residency in a real tattoo shop. This kit gets you basically everything you would need to try out a few practice skins to decide if you're any good. That alone make the price point super attractive here, and I'd suggest that this is a really solid starter kit for people who are interested in kicking the tires on tattooing. ... show more

  • Perfect for learning
Size: PTK015
My purpose in getting this tattoo kit is mainly curiosity—that is, to gain a hands-on experience in making tattoo designs and understanding how a tattoo machine works. Speaking of which, the machine comes with an attractive and practical zippered hard case and fairly thorough instructions for explaining and setting up the machine and how to use it (see my photos). The instructions also briefly explain some of the different needle types. For about forty bucks, I didn't expect professional-level quality, and this does lack some features found on more expensive machines. The main purpose of this level of machine is to become familiar with how tattoos are made and to get used to handling the pen with different types of needles, whether for lining or shading and, most important, accuracy and faithfulness to the desired design. With this machine you'll want to stock up on practice skins (two are included) and expect to have some fun playing with it. However, you might not want to use this machine to tattoo skin on a real person. Although this tattoo kit would work for making real tattoos, it lacks some features that make professional tattoo machines safe. I also think that you would probably want invest in better inks to make tattoos on human skin. Overall, this is a practical and affordable setup with everything needed to learn the art of making tattoos. I think it's more than sufficient for fine-tuning the skills needed to become a competent tattooist. ... show more

  • First impressions

There are no instructions. If you have never Tattooed before you may have a hard time with this pen. The Foot pedal is just 2 pieces of metal the wire coming from it looks like speaker wire. only shader port works on power supply. Has what you need to start practicing.

  • Nice kit, comes with what you need
Size: PTK015
This is a pretty nice tattoo gun kit. Poseidon, from my experience, is a pretty solid company, with good products. The pen I received is black and purple. The purple color is pretty cool, and would be appreciated by both men and women. The set comes with the rotary tattoo pen, plug in cord, pedal, speed box, tattoo cartridge needles, blue pen covers, one practice skin, a couple sheets of transfer paper, one pair of gloves, and equipment cloth, and tattoo ink. All of this is packed inside a fairly decent carry case. It has a zipper closure, and while it is is a cloth material, it has a hard top and bottom for protection. Overall, I am happy with this product, and I would recommend it to anyone starting out, or intermediate. I will say that I am not fully certain of the quality and safety of the ink it comes with. You should research this and pay close attention to the ingredients, before using it on human skin. For the price point, you cannot beat it. Enjoy! ... show more

  • If you want to learn, this is a decent kit to practice skills with
Size: PTK015
As long as you keep in mind the purpose of this kit, you'll be fine... This is meant to be a beginner kit to learn how to a Tattoo Pen on fake skin... This kit comes with a most of what you need to learn how to tattoo, though, I would ensure side purchasing more of the consumables to continue to practice the safety aspect with each session. The machine has decent enough punch for fake skins, but the depth adjustment is not indexed, so has the potential of unintentional needle depth adjustments... The ink is not meant for human skin either, so don't use it that way... The purpose of a kit like this is to have a machine to help train the different strokes, shading, and lining on fake skin that tattooing requires and this is a decent enough first foray into the artform... Just be prepared to grow into a more robust unit as you move into real skin... ... show more
