Good bite, drilled through hard packed Georgia Clay Both wet and dry… A few smaller Tree roots also… It is Longer than many that you find so I could dig deep to sink Fence post stakes.. well shaped tip to get the hole started and you have to be careful and hold the drill with both hands because it will spin the drill and hurt your wrist. i had no problems drilling the 30 holes that I needed about 2 feet deep. Definitely made things easier, I would recommend if you're doing deeper holes to drill in a little bit and then pull the bit out of the ground as it's going to pull the dirt up out and keep doing that instead of trying to go all the way down. all the loose dirt can Bog it down. I would definitely recommend. Especially at the price! Very good value for the money and after digging those holes, I don't notice even any dings in the edges so it seems to be pretty tough. ... show more

This work well for planting bulbs etc. I will helps loosen the ground. However with very hard clay soil you want to make sure you drill is powerful enough to drive it, dampen the soil as well . I only have a small cordless drill but it still does ok.

well, I used this auger today to plant some tulips for my wife and boy does this thing work great. just stick it in the ground and pull the trigger. just one thing though I would hold on to the drill with both hands because you never know when it could hit a rock or root and twist the drill out of your hand. ... show more

I had high hopes for this to plant bulbs but it only works in loose, loamy soil. I can use a smaller auger to make an initial hole and then use this to expand the diameter but in regular garden soil, it’s difficult to use.

The tool works well for loosening the soil, but does not remove soil from the hole. So, is used it loosen areas of topsoil, shoveled out the soil, dumped the bulbs in, replaced the soil and was done.
