  • Solid unit so far. Take your time on installation.
I installed this in my commuter car, a 2005 Mini Cooper Convertible. I took my time as I wanted a professional looking installation. I have done some car audio work in the past, but never installed a back up camera before. The Display install- Install of the display is straight forward. I was pleased that the base is flexible (same as dash material) and formed to the dash curvature above the Mini’s giant speedometer. I disassembled the dash and routed the wiring behind it to minimize clutter. I spent about 45 minutes doing this part of the install. The backup camera install- This took the longest. I spent the most time on this part for a couple of reasons. For a clean install you will need to remove some interior panels, sill plates and weatherstripping. You will also need to do some wiring and potentially drill a hole or two for wire routing. If you haven’t done a camera install before, don’t be scared, watch a YouTube video or two, and tailor the install to your specific vehicle. I spent about 3 hours on this part of the install. Installation suggestions- -Wipe the mount area of your dash with isopropyl alcohol to ensure cleanliness and good adhesion. -Check YT for videos on dash, panel or taillight disassembly as needed for your specific vehicle. -Buy the recommended backup camera license plate bracket. Makes the camera mount super easy. -Make sure you have tools, zip ties, quick splice connectors and electrical tape on hand for the install. - After your install go to a parking lot and calibrate the backup camera guidelines. Installation issue- My only complaint for the installation was the 12V trigger line for the back up camera was too short, so I had to splice an addition 12” length to reach the Minis backup light power wire. This car is a Mini and that wire being too short is unacceptable. Final Thoughts- The unit itself functions well and has some fantastic features. Bluetooth connection was a snap. The unit boots up fast and connects to my phone within 10 seconds of boot up. Both cameras appear very clear. Both Aux out and FM transmit audio sound great, with the Aux out sounding just a bit quieter at the same volume level than FM out. Now I’m just hoping the unit lasts. ... show more

  • Very pleased
This is my second Andriod Auto head unit such as this, and I confess I'm impressed. For context, I installed it in my 2006 Honda Accord connected via BlueTooth to my BLU cell phone. After about three months of use, some Pros and Cons and other thoughts are below: Pros: * Does what it says it will do and at a reasonable price. * User interface is pretty easy to understand after a few passes through it. * Cameras are both very clear, day and night. * Easy to adjust the backup camera's guiding lines to your car/truck's length and width. * Screen image is clear and responsive to the touch. * Customer service was very helpful when I reported an issue I needed help figuring out. * All the cables are plenty long. * Manual is pretty good...I'd give it a "B"...much better than a lot of manuals you see from China written in English. Works but could be better: * Speaker works, but not for high vol, and is a single, tiny mono speaker. * Can output music (from Spotify on your phone, for instance) to FM on your radio, but quality is poor. In fairness, the signal is running over the air via LTE to my phone, then Bluetooth from my phone to this unit, then via FM to my car radio... That is a lot of hops and different formats, so not surprised that it sounds pretty poor by the time I turn on the FM radio in my car to listen to it. * The suction cup mounting brackets will likely block the front-facing camera view. I bought separately a mounting bracket that I connect to my AC vent, which works fine and does not block the front facing camera. * Occasionally it takes a min or two to connect to my phone. I can't figure out the pattern, but generally, it will do so after about 60 to 90 seconds. Every now and then, I have to reboot my phone before it will connect. I don't know if this is an issue with my phone or this unit. Cons: * Could not get it to work with a Samsung phone, which was my first choice. After two hours of trying, I contacted their customer service, and they responded immediately that their product and some Samsung phone are incompatible. I wish they would have published that in their sales page. That said, I did get it working with my BLU phone. Other thoughts: * The entire installation took me about an hour. It does take a bit of work to set it all up, install the backup camera, run the wire, etc. But it is all perfectly doable if you are at all mechanically inclined. Just set aside 60 - 90 mins in a well-lit, warm and dry workplace, and it should be fine. You may need a drill with a small bit to put a hole through the trunk's back wall for the wire to the backup camera. * As with all add-on backup cameras, be sure to watch some videos on YouTube so you understand how to install it, and have a fist full of small "zip ties" to secure the cable or you will likely cut or pull it out by accident one day. And be sure to use screws to mount the backup camera, not just double-sided adhesive mount (which will eventually give up one day and leave your camera dangling). * Zip ties and those tiny, sticky back holders for wires can be very helpful to keep the wires tidy as they come off the unit and run down to the floor, or into the dash. They don't just help it look better, but as a matter of safety, you don't want loose wires hanging about your hands or feet when you drive. * Not all older car radios have a readily accessible "aux" input so you can output sound from this unit to your car stereo by wire. Oddly enough, my 2006 Accord does have such an input though it is a proprietary Honda connector, and you can't get to it unless you pull out part of the dash under the radio and buy an additional cable to plug into it and then drill a hole in the storage cubby for the wire to pass through. Obviously, the Honda design is not this unit's fault, but just be aware that without access to a wired aux port, you will only get sound out of this unit via either the tiny speaker or via FM as I described above. Overall, I give this unit an A-. I'm very happy with it, but it's not perfect as I detailed above. ... show more

  • Great Car Play
Absolutely the best Air play for the price! Everything worked as it should. There was a link to an install video that helped to get things working fast! I used a short USB cable instead of the large cigarette lighter power plug to make it cleaner looking. I also am NOT using the backup camera since the truck already has one. And I do not want to route the wire! I would love it if someone would come up with a Apple car play with a wireless backup camera! I had purchased and returned others that took over 2 hours to get to work and once working they would fail to connect again. This one worked great from the start. There was a slight issue. 1. It did not come with a SD card. (no biggie, I bought one). 2. It did not have instructions to format and install SD card. (took extra time to find the format icon). a. I found the format SD card icon by accident. Scrolled up (not right or left). Once I found it, and format was fast. 30 minutes to unpack and install and get working perfectly. another 30 minutes to find the format icon :-(. This company also had a phone number to call for support. Which is great! The other companies the car play was more expensive, and I was only able to email support for problems. I only had it for a couple days. If I find any issues, I will update the review. ... show more
