    • The pole that goes to ground or clamps!
On a recent camping trip I added this to my armada of items. I didn't even notice it was there. It's light, it's smart, and man is it versatile. I got this setup in under a minute. Since I had a truck bed I was camping in this go around, I clamped it to the bed itself. Imagine my surprise that it WORKED!! Like the clamp had been designed for this very purpose. I hooked a coleman candle on it and intended to light it that night. But alas, the storms of dover came sailing in and I didn't have a chance to light it much less take it off the pole. The lightning was jagged and the thunder boomed in a way that reminded me of the ancient stories of God's wrath. I was curled up in my tent in the fetal position and had completely forgotten in the high winds and rushing rains about this pole and it's clamped mount and the now heavy, swinging candle above my head. It should have blown that pole down. I should have been beaned in the head by the candle. But come the raging dawn with it's promise of southern humidity and troops of mosquitoes, that pole stood tall. It glistened in the sun and the candle filled with water to the brim didn't make it bow a bit. It remained clamped to the truck bed and had not moved an inch. In the whipping winds that would have destroyed lesser poles, this one stood firm and tall. I like this pole and I think you'll like it as well. It's long enough to do what you need. Firm enough to take it. And when you're done with it, it packs away very nicely. I would buy this pole again. ... show more

I wish it was taller. I suppose it you just wanted a light outside your tent, it is fine. It struggled to hold the weight of a butane lantern. I don't expect it to last more than a few camps.

I don't know what light they expect to to be used with this but most will not work. It only works for me with 1 section and secured to a table. Any more than that and it will collapse. The stake into the ground is useless, at least in Arizona dirt but I don't see it very effective anywhere else.
