  • Bright and easy to use
I believe this is the 3rd one of these I have purchased. I use them for my craft projects, as in the picture I am making a leaf lamp from basswood. Needed something that would not get hot, has an inline on/off rocker switch, and USB powered! You can't beat the portability and functionality of this for the cost. Power it with a little USB battery pack, take It anywhere. Safer as well, no glass to break and a convenient hanging bracket! Great for use in a tent, or for crafts! 2 packs are a great buy. I'll be getting more! ... show more

  • enjoying this light
This is a good one, it is surprisingly powerful and actually brighter than a regular bulb, but it runs off just 1a USB. The switch works well and is placed in a convenient spot on the cord, long enough to reach plus some extra slack in all directions, nice. Get it 5+* **

  • Just what I was looking for!
Very happy with this light. Needed something for camping and this is perfect. Like that it only uses 5 watts and can be used all night on a small power bank. Also has plenty of light for a tent.

  • Good Value, Design, Ambience; power is 3.1W -- not 5W.
Three features drew me to Onite's USB LED, and each has pleased me thus far, so I've decided to buy more (instead of trying the competitor's much costlier USB LED): 1. Fair price for a solid product: bulb, cord, switch, and USB plug seem to be well constructed; if time reveals something not presently apparent, I'll be back. 2. Convenient, sturdy metal hanging *hook*: hangs the bulb without the fuss threading something through a hole. 3. Soft, warm-light ambience: yellow tones complement human beings and are more restful for the brain. The cord and switch are conveniently proportioned, too. To help you anticipate whether the lengths will work for your purposes: Top of switch to bulb = 23.6" (60cm) Bottom of switch to top of USB plug = 36.5" (92cm) Switch is approx. 2.4" long (6cm) I also appreciate the packaging: a sturdy plain box that's reusable; careful padding inside; no excess; easy to open. The bulb is working splendidly. I power it with small solar-/USB-charged battery packs (capacity ratings from 2,400 to 13,000 mAh). I solar-charge my battery packs, and the main reason I bought this bulb (and wish to buy more) is to use less grid power. The other reasons are to light some spaces in my 1920s home that are not wired with sockets or outlets; and to add some "overhead" lighting to the kinds lighting I have for power outages and off-grid wanderings. If you also intend to power your bulb with a rechargeable battery pack and want guidance choosing 5V battery capacity (measured in mAh) or estimating how long you'll be able to light the bulb with a battery pack you already own, here are some rough guidelines: - For 3 hours of light, choose a battery source rated at least 2,400 mAh - For 5 hours, at least 3,900 mAh - For 8 hours, at least 6,200 mAh - For 10 hours, at least 7,800 mAh The above uses 620 mA (milliamps)for the bulb's draw of current, because my bulb draws 0.62A (amps). Also, to be realistic and appropriately cautious, my calculations presume using 80 percent, not 100 percent, of stated battery capacity. (Why? Because it's usually unhelpful to fully drain a battery; there are inefficiencies using battery power; some power pack mftrs rate their products' capacities "generously"; over time, battery capacity declines; and recharging a battery the last few percentage points is slow and not efficient, especially if one is using another battery or a solar panel to do it.) One caution, if you actually need "5 WATTS": The Onite bulb I bought draws 0.62 Amperes at 5.04 Volts, which puts the bulb's actual power at approximately 3.1 Watts (W = V x A). The Technical Details erroneously states 5 Watts (note, btw, that the more expensive brand claims "2 Watts"). These are mellow ambient lights, and I experience the Onite as pleasing for its purpose. If you need intense illumination, or are trying to light a large space with one bulb/light, then you'll need to explore a different kind of product. With the wattage exception, the Onite product description and illustration are helpful (kudos). But the listed wattage clearly isn't accurate (others have noticed this, too), so until the the product description is corrected, I delete one star and include this wattage note, since consumers deserve complete and accurate product descriptions on Amazon. (I have measured voltage and amperage with two reliable USB meters, both while powering the bulb with battery packs and while powering it from USB ports on my computer, which is plugged into a typical 110v AC outlet.) ... show more

  • Didn't need it but wanted it. It's great!
This is one of those things that is kind of gimmicky. But it works great and comes in handy if doing a task in low light. I plug it into a battery pack that you charge phones with.

  • Perfect for Power Outages
Bought several of these lights for power outages during weather emergencies. We hook them up to a power bank and it lights up the room. It's great that it has extra long cords so we can hang them from the ceiling fans.

  • A sight for sore eyes!
*Included pictures. Light on the left is this Onite USB LED Light and the light on the right is another brand with no switch Pros: - Warm, bright omni-directional lighting - Price - Lightweight and portable - On/off switch Cons: - Gets a tad bit warmer than expected for LED lighting - Moderate current draw BOTTOM LINE: If you have children, power outages and at least one USB Battery pack, you need this light! In a technologically rich market inundated with piercing bright emergency lighting, this little light is somewhat of a moral booster. No really! Just recently, I convinced my family to take part in a weekend "power outage" experiment. On the first night, by the time 11PM rolled around, my eyes were hurting and tired and the mood was already somber. It was then that I discovered a couple things. One: Power outages stink! Grid down would be depressing. Two: Emergency lighting (mine in particular) that is blue in color on the Kelvin spectrum fatigues the human eye. I feel that anything above 5500 Kelvin is just too blue to be relied upon as continuous lighting. Despite having the latest in lighting technology employing the more current COB LED, I find that this "camp" bulb's color temperature (which is a more traditional warm yellowish light) is just simply more visually appealing to the eyes than those LED's which emit a bluer light. Don't get me wrong, this will not replace my super bright COB lanterns and flashlights because they do have their place in emergency lighting. BUT for continuous ambient lighting, this bulb will be our family's "go to" for emergency lighting. Not only is this bulb's warm lighting more visually appealing than the sharp blueish color light from most all other lighting in the marketplace right now, but I find that even though it's not as "bright" as my other lights, I can actually see more with it. (My guess is that the warmer lighting doesn't strain and fatigue the eye as much.) In contrast, the exposed high intensity LED's from COB or other SMD LED's causes a large degree of glare and even in some cases, weird shadowing from the latter. I saw the 5-star rating for this light and I'd say that it's well deserved. For my family and I, it gives us the lighting that we're familiar with. I think it's safe to say that it's comparable to the traditional 40W incandescent light bulb. Try simulating for yourself a power outage for a weekend, heck, try it for one night! For the first stint, employ all your "blueish" LED lights. Then for the second stint, use this light and I'm confident the majority will have a preference for this light. ... show more

  • A must have item
Purchased this to have a light source in case of power outages during hurricanes. Surprising bright and works perfectly with a small battery bank.
