We live in Puerto Rico and experience frequent power outages. Some are short, and other times, they could last for days. My husband has a health condition that makes him very susceptible to heat, and it's always hot here in paradise. We have an auxiliary power source, but it doesn't run our 220 appliances. So no air conditioner. Fans will work, but really are only good enough for a short time. This cooler is larger than I expected. It is lightweight, but feels like sturdy materials. It comes with two little blue bottles for adding water and freezing. They contain some sort of mushy crystals that evidently cool faster, and hold the cold longer. Add those, or ice (which melts quickly) into the bin at the top. Fill the reservoir until the float tube shows the desired level. When it's on, there are three levels, as well as the cool function (vs fan only). There is a swing function as well. This little thing pumps water up to the top, where it can be cooled by the ice/frozen bottles, and then runs it through the evaporative cooling filter. While it's not going to turn high temperatures to low ones, it can cool down the air enough to make a huge difference for my husband. 100% recommend. ... show more

This portable air conditioner has been working well to use in our home office that faces the west and gets hot in the summer time! It's evaporative, so it cools the air by vaporing cool steam. The big water tank capacity lasts long and I don't have to refill it constantly. It's windowless, so it's alright for rooms without easy access to a window. This thing can seriously cool down a room. I was actually amazed at how cold it got my room. I don't even need another fan, I don't need the A/C, this is good for a room, and my room is a decent size. The instructions are a bit vague, but you can figure things out easily. The water lasts a decent while, but you will have to change it out every 4/5 hours, it seems. I wish it came with one more ice pack, but I have some I can throw in there, which helps chill it even more. This is perfect for the hot weather we've been having! ... show more
