This cooler was to help with me being a hot sleeper. Although I have central air I need this even during the winter to cool the area by my bed. I am hoping to replace my two desktop coolers with a larger unit. Those desktop coolers incorporate very small water tanks and have no way to add ice. Not to mention, they only last about 4 hours or fail after a few months. I recently tried a larger “swamp” type cooler but there have been problems. The “swamp” type cooler did not live up to the advertising. It was very loud and would barely circulate any cool air, let alone approach anything close to cold. Then when you wanted to add water you had to remove the water pump, fill it with water and then guess at exactly where to put the pump since the instructions showed no location. I loved the convenience of the large water reservoir and ice packs, but the lack of adequate cooling combined with excessive noise means I’ll have to continue looking for a larger cooler unit. I decided to give this a try. This came quickly and was packaged well. It came with wheels and ice packs as well as a nice remote, not like some of those tiny ones. The unit is quiet and definitely cools, even without the ice packs installed. This surprised me and is the complete opposite of the large swamp cooler. It is quiet, holds several ice packs and can actually get “too” cold with the ice packs. Without the ice, the machine still cools just not as cold as with the ice. Unlike a similar one I got, this one has the removable pump and water refill reservoir. But this one has the pump installed along with locating clips. That helps to know where things go. PROS: - Cools even without the ice packs. - The unit is quiet and will not annoy you as you sleep, this also has a nice long run time. - The remote is of good size not tiny and therefore not easy to lose. ... show more
