This unit replaces a RainyB unit that died. This MAKAYLA unit does a wonderful job, better than the unit it replaces. We use it in a 37 foot travel trailer to keep down the moisture in the air especially when cooking and when the AC is not on. It is used in the main part of the trailer that has a giant slide on the driver's side, and a small slide on the passenger side. I think this would be about 150 square feet (maybe a little less), and about 6ft 4" from floor to ceiling. If you know how to figure cubic feet from those figures that would be great. The unit is quiet, but not soundless. We have noticed little to no condensation on the windows in the morning, but also this is the end of February, but we do live in a humid southern state and heading for Spring here. As I write this the high today will be a humid 82 degrees. These little portable units do not have a compressor so they are unable to do zero humidity, but they do great job for what they are. I am considering purchasing a second one of these MAKAYLA units as we head into summer to use in the more forward part of the trailer which is the bedroom. My old RainyB unit displayed temperature and the moisture in the air, which I found very helpful and miss on the new unit. The new unit can light up in different colors which, imho, is just silly and useless. I am not discounting a star for this because I knew of this silly feature when I ordered the unit. Otherwise, at this time, this MAKAYLA unit is a five star product which I would buy again, and recommend to others. ... show more

purchased the larger size since its not much bigger than the smaller one. this is working surprisingly well and is catching so much more water than a different model from this compan. so the larger size was a good choice. theres not much airflow in the area i use this and in 24 hours it had almost an inch of water in the reservoir. worth it for my health and sanity. its not too loud and easy to tune out. i appreciate this design where the plug is not on the same side as the air intake but it could be better placed. its heavy enough that i wouldnt be afraid of my cats knocking it off the table. as for those looking at the newer model, i chose this one because i dont need the extra functions like timer and i just want a product that works so i chose this one. less fancy technology tends to have fewer malfunctions. the plug is with an adaptor like laptop chargers used to come, so it probably uses a good amount of power. you can attach a drain hose in the front below the air intake but i have not tried this function. ... show more

    • Working hard and well!
I hate humidity (tough, living in Florida!), and increase from the rain even with the windows closed makes my tile ever so slightly sticky feeling. Worse, the front of my house always seemed to smell musty no matter what I did for it over the years. It seems that the manufactured wood in my cupboards and floors interacting with humidity was playing a role. It's not mold. What to try next? I wanted to try a small dehumidifier as an inexpensive experiment. Here was one, attractive and a good price! I've had it for a few months, and in a space a little bigger than recommended (kitchen in a small duplex connected to a living and dining room). My house definitely smells better! I think that the floors feel a little better, too. Admittedly, it has run almost constantly. I pour the water from the mostly filled container onto my outdoor plants every two days. I have a hygrometer and can see a very slight improvement in numbers, but in feeling, it's enough for now. The real test will come in summer. Our master bedroom was starting to smell musty as it was constantly really humid with our bathroom fan not operating the best or maybe just the heat in general. I purchased this in hopes it would keep cooler and keep the smell down. I was hesistant but willing to give this one a go! Seems to work. I keep it on constantly and empty it about every other day- 2 or 3 days sometimes. It really just depends on the humidity I think. But the smell in our room has gotten a lot better and it has the little night light feature! I’d say for the price this isn’t a bad idea for a small room!! ... show more

    • Best dehumidifier for a small space!

I bought this to get rid of the musty, mildew smell that was permeating my clothes in a large walk-in closet. In just TWO DAYS the odor and dampness was was completely gone. My closet sits over a concrete basement which became flooded from all the spring rains. We hired a professional to clean and seal the basement, but when we returned from an 8 week trip the residual musty smell was overpowering. We bought a large dehumidifier for the basement, but it didn't help with the smell upstairs. I saw this and decided to try it (I had no idea that dehumidifiers came in small units). It worked!! The unit fits just inside the closet door (close to an electrical outlet), and it's small enough to not require a great deal of space. There's a small, clear plastic, covered water container in the bottom that (EASILY) pulls out to empty. The unit is very quiet and the "night lights" can be turned off with a quick button push. If I forget to empty the container the unit will shut itself off so I don't have to set yet another "Alexa" reminder. The best return on an investment this year! I'm going to purchase another one for the utility room. UPDATE 8-3-2023 The fan on the dehumidifier stopped working almost a year to-the-day after I bought it. (I did run it 24/7 for a solid 9 months.) When I checked contact the seller through Amazon, my quirie was sent to another distributor not the company that sold me the original product. The company contacted was LITERUIY. Their customer service was absolutely amazing! After a few emails to gather information, I received an email essentially stating, "We are proud to carry this product, and, although you did buy it from us, we will replace it." It arrived today. This particular distributor believes in and stands by their product. Look for LITERUIY if you are considering buying this product. (And I'd still highly recommend this particular unit.) ... show more
