Part of the reason I want a small clip fan is for the white noise, for sleep. If the fan is audibly off balance, or has any ticking or clicking sounds, or makes other annoying noises while I'm trying to fall asleep, I can't use it for sleep. I've tried probably five different brands of the top-rated small fans on Amazon and none of them were able to pass my "no annoying noise test" for more than a few weeks -- except this 6in Hurricane fan. The company seems to care about creating a well-QA'd, well-balanced small fan because I've bought 4 of these over the years, and all of them have lasted at least a year without developing any weird wobble/ticking sounds. None of the fans I tried were oscillating fans, so of course this has everything to do with good tolerances in the blade and motor manufacture and assembly, FYI. ... show more

I chose this fan bc it only requires the removal of one screw to dust the blades/inside grille. (And yes, if you’re like omg fans need to be cleaned?! Yes, yes they do.) It also has a clip and is powered so it was ideal for use on my son’s lower bunk bed. Wasn’t too noisy. Two speeds was adequate. But after 15 or so months it’s already dead. I suppose for the price that lines up… but gosh, my mom still has an operable fan from the 80s so this just seems like a waste of plastic and a bummer. ... show more

I have an air conditioner but I don't use it all the time just to cool a room down. I several little fans in strategic places that's blow air on me at night that keepse cool in the summer and able to sleep. These are great, I can direct them and have them on high or low and the room stays cool. I have not noticed that they have increased my electric bill. Between these and several box fans I have been able to keep the house cool without using the central air and kept the bills down. ... show more

    • Clamp is too small

The clamp opens to 2". This is true, but will not stay attached to a 2" thick item. The thickest item this can attach to is 1 1/2" or less. The product does not grip well on vertical objects and falls off. It only works well on a thin horizontal surface. The fan motor is quite though and runs well.
