I originally purchased the double din 912W 7” radio for my motorhome (reviewed that too) and was so impressed with it, I decided to go with the MP-106 10” radio for my 1987 Ford F250 4X4. This was the perfect option to bring it into the 21st century (jokingly) since my truck just had an Eclipse high-end CD player that was over 20 years old and no other current electronic devices in it. My truck’s setup is 2 amplifiers (one for speakers and the other for the sub) so I am not using the internal head unit’s amplifier. With that said, the internal amp in my motorhome (same internal amp as this one) worked amazing, but I didn’t need it for the truck. Unit Installation was easy and they supplied all the hardware for it. It does come with a dash kit and it went into the same radio opening without any trouble. I will say that I had to secure the radio adapter housing to a cross member under the dash to secure the radio housing to the dash. Without I found that the radio’s 10’ monitor will move up and down while driving. The screen acts like a level arm with the weight of the monitor so this helped to stabilize it while driving. Mounting the screen to the head unit, just snaps into place and you really need to use the 2 screws it comes with the secure the screen to the head unit. I found that Phillips head screws stripped out easily when trying to screw them in and replaced them with Allen head screws instead. I found that the screen still rocks a bit in its holder (up and down play) since my truck rides stiff, which for me is a little annoying and I’ll have to come up with some sort of brace. The screen’s mechanical adjustment is nice. It gave me the capability to move it up and down in gradual increments and also gives you the capability to tilt the screen back and forth. I can tilt it back and hide my air/heater controls when not using them. The resolution of the monitor looks better than I expected and very happy with it. Hooking up all the leads from my amps and other accessories were easy and the unit powered up and starting working without any issues with both amps. The system’s software setup was easy and paired with my phone via Bluetooth on the first try. The nice thing about this radio is that on power up, it searches for your phone and connects with it flawlessly every time. The built in EQ is really nice because it gave me the option to tune the type of music I listen to and adjust the right to left, front to read accordingly. It also gave me the ability to adjust my Sub woofer’s frequency and the volume I want it to work at. This too worked very well. The overall sound is amazing and very happy with it. I can say that the music sounds better than my old stereo unit. The mic on the unit works well for asking Google (Android Auto) for Nav or any other needs and for phone call, everyone told me I sounded clear even when driving my noisy truck. The backup camera took some work to run the wires all the way to the back of the truck. The camera was easy to attach to the bumper and drill to mounting holes for it. I did find that the camera/power lead that runs from the camera back to the head unit was 5’ short for my truck. Unfortunately, I had to purchase an extension cable from Amazon and I had to add a wire for the camera (pink/black) power lead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGH69W5R?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 It’s really nice having a backup camera now and parking assist line setup screen took a little bit to figure it out, but in the end helped me setup the parking assist line accordingly. To set them up, you need to tap on each of the line’s squares and adjust them left, right, up or down, then tap on the next square to do the same. For me, I found the distance from green, yellow and red lines were about 2 ½ feet apart. The camera looks great during the day and very clear at night when backing up. PLZ customer service also has a feature when you send them pictures and logo for your radio and they will convert them into a file which to upload into your radio’s software. This gives you powerup and background pictures. All and all, I am very pleased with this radio and it’s worth the money. I will give an update after using it for a bit. ... show more

If you are looking to upgrade your old basic factory stereo to an Apple Carplay / Android Auto display, and you're on a budget, this is probably the best bang for your buck you will find. I installed on a 2012 Subaru Impreza. I definitely needes the separate dash kit (the included fascia and brackets did not fit) and wiring harness (I got the harness with included steering wheel control wiring and was able to retain most of the steering wheel controls without needing the separate adapter). Double check what you need for your specific make/model. Install was actually fairly easy, just make sure you pay attention to the wiring diagrams. I used a cheap crimp kit from Harbor Freight to get the job done. Installing the backup camera was a bit more tricky (had to splice into the reverse light and drill a few holes) but you'll be fine if you watch a few YouTube videos. Setup is also pretty straightforward. Android Auto works great and the stereo sounds at least as good as, if not better, than the factory stereo. The fridge default screen settings are a bit dim and murky, so I boosted the brightness and saturation settings to improve it. Backup camera works great. Some reviews have complained about the camera having permanent alignment grids in the field of view but that was not the case for mine. The only grids in mine are adjustable and removable in the head unit software. Additionally, their support email is very fast and responsive (although you may have to decipher some of their odd English at times). It isn't perfect. Occasionally the Bluetooth doesn't pair on its own and requires manual pairing. The screen quality is good, but not great (I think they have a more expensive QLED model). The steering wheel control settings don't have an option for a "mic" or "voice" button, which means if you have that button on your wheel you won't be able to use it to active Siri or Google Assistant. These are minor quibbles, especially if you go to Crutchfield and compare to even your least expensive option for wireless Carplay/Android, backup camera, etc, which will be at least 400 bucks. If your car is already kind of old and not worth spending a ton of money on a state of the art head unit, this is a very inexpensive option that will get you 90% of the functionality of a brand name unit that costs you triple.
