  • Great Head Unit
Ordered this to replace worn out factory D-Din head unit in a 2003 MX-5 Miata. Using proper install kit and wire harness, install was a breeze and was done under 45mins. Setup was easy, and settings menu options was also easy to access and set for my preferences. Be sure to provide your own AUX cable and the correct USB cable type that fits your device type. All that is provided is a USB extension cable that allows you to connect any standard USB device to it; (USB thumb drive, portable self powered hard drive, iphone, ipad, ipod, and any Android phone.) Bluetooth connect perfectly with any phone. Can connect up to 3 phones to the Head Unit. You can specify which devices can use Bluetooth Phone Calling/Answering and which is just for music streaming. (Example: Driver's phone can be set to hands free calling/answering while Passenger's phone can be strictly set to stream audio separately. can be setup various ways for 3 units.) Nice EQ functions. Many presets and ability to customize the EQ to your tastes. Even has the ability to set speaker delays and speaker distances from passengers and seating positions to tune sound to your vehicles interior. Excellent Head Unit. Would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone who doesn't think a mechanical CD/DVD player is needed. ... show more

  • Best touch screen for $165
Probably the best "cheap" full 7" touch screen that I've found. Especially for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I wanted a full screen without the CD player, or the thick side bezel controls. This unit was by far the cheapest of the name brand manufacturers. Not that DUAL or Boss are bad. I just never had good experiences with them. This model is the higher of the lower tier of the MVH/AVH line, but it's loaded with features. Ton of connections in back. Very responsive touch screen. Configurable in almost every area... except the one I was hoping for. Custom screen background image. This feature isn't available in the 100, 200, or 300 models. Not a deal breaker by any means. Merely a point to make for those looking for customization. Absolutely awesome radio for $165. Bluetooth connects quick. Plenty of sound adjustments. Bright clear screen from any angle even in the day light. ... show more

  • sounds amazing
i cant believe how much this head unit made my stock speakers come to life. i am hearing tones and detail that i never heard while in the car. its like listening to my Beats headphones. i didnt need anything fancy, and this thing is doing everything i wanted so far. it was so easy to install. i took my sweet time soldering all the connections using the matching adapter harness. all the colors matched color for color. i connected my backup camera wire to the head unit, but tucked everything into the dash for now because i ran out of time over the weekend. i plan on finishing that up this weekend. i will post pictures of the finished install and a few picks of what the wires look like when i pull the unit back out ... show more

  • Solid budget touchscreen.
For the price, I’m definitely satisfied. The Bluetooth delay between my phone and the unit (particularly with GPS Navigation) can be a difference of 2-3 seconds… but with music I don’t really notice any issues usually. If you want a solid budget touchscreen with Bluetooth, this definitely works! It was my first Radio install and I wired it and installed it myself (including a backup camera!) No complaints! (Been using it for 3 months now.) ... show more

  • It's a great stereo, the best for the money
I loved it, i been wanting it sinc ei first saw it when searching double din stereos for my lexus. I had a single din pioneer before, and was wanting a double din to use the rear camera feature i had installed. I was worried the back casing of the stereo would end up squashing all the wires and cables connected to it but it all connected and fit very snug, but not fully bent. This stereo has alot more settings for the sounds, even for the subwoofer. The bottom buttons stick out a bit but still looks great, not as noticable. Mic works very good n loud. The camera screen looks a bit less quality compared to a jvc stereo i tried, but still works good and bright. ... show more

  • Hardware issues
I put this in my 4Runner on July 20th, 2018 and it worked relatively well for the first month or so. I didn't realize that it didn't have a CD or DVD player until I installed it, but whatever right? Well gradually I started to have more and more issues with it. For one, whenever I start my car and switch into reverse too quickly, instead of engaging the back up camera it will just show the Pioneer powering up screen until I turn off my car and restart the engine. This happens pretty frequently and it happens indefinitely when it does, I always have to restart my car regardless of how long I wait for it to reboot. Maybe this is just my experience. Secondly, I added a subwoofer about a month ago and about a week ago the subwoofer stopped working, but the amp had power. So naturally I reconnected all of my connections, replaced fuses and still nothing. Both my amp and subwoofer are brand new, but just as a precaution I tested out another amp and it still had power to it, but no sound. I also changed my RCA cables after taking out my head unit and still nothing. I did all of this at the Crutch field store with crutch field technicians and we were left to conclude that the RCA outputs on this radio are bad. Basically I called Pioneer and now I have to pay to ship and insure the package and wait a minimum of 2-4 weeks to hear back from them. Conclusion, this head unit looks nice, it is nice and the touch screen is great, but it feels cheap and the hardware isn't meant to support DVDs, CDs and customization. Spend $70 more and get the AVH-x490bs. I bought these head unit brand new and it sucks. Maybe thats just my experience, but I have always only had pioneer head units with no issues. I genuinely just don't think its made well. ... show more
