  • Works for all ages and types of music
Packed with features for the money. In the current age where factory stereos are next to impossible to replace due to extreme integration, the aftermarket stereo has an expiration date coming due soon. The good news is, if you need or just want to replace a single DIN radio, you have one of the best selections out there right now. I needed to replace the factor 1.5 DIN stereo in a newly acquired 99 Blazer that had one functioning door speaker and the two tweeters in the dash. I've been installing stereo systems in my cars since the 80's even when the factory stereos were fine. This Pioneer was what I thought to be an inexpensive unit to just get some sounds in the blazer so I wouldn't lose my mind commuting back and forth to work and boy was I surprised! Aside from the nice but gimmicky color selections, the unit has serious flexibility with the USB charge/play integrated, the two sets of RCA outputs (which also allows you to power rear speakers via the deck AND use the rear RCA's to drive an external amp) which is nice if you have 4-6 speakers and a subwoofer. Bluetooth connected fine without drops on an Android phone and even gives voice commands for turn by turn directions if you're playing music from your phone at the same time by lowering the music slightly to allow you to hear the navigation instructions, just like the wife's 2015 Charger. The controls are extensive and in depth to say the least for fine tuning the sound. Included are low pass and high pass crossovers with 12/24db cutoffs along with the ability to boost or cut your sub level to match the rest of your system without crawling around with a screwdriver to fine tune your gain. In my case, I have a 12 yr old Planet Audio 10" sub driven by a just as old Alpine mono amp that was collecting dust... Doors have new PA 6.5" powered by the deck and the 22 yr old who works under me is asking where I got the install and how much was it! Seems I was crowding out his dub step during lunch last week with my AC/DC Thunderstruck... ... show more

  • Best stereo head I've ever bought! I like this way better than JVC heads I've owned in the past.
Great stereo! I've installed four or five in my life so far, and this one was as easy as could be expected. I didn't need the Metra bracket for our 2002 Honda Accord; the factory bracket screwed into the sides of this deck. The display is great, with no annoying animation if you don't want it; so it doesn't distract you while driving. The controls are easy to use while driving. Best of all, it sounds great! Very glad to have purchased this head. There is an illumination wire, contrary to some descriptions. There's also a dimmer button in case you leave that wire disconnected. One note if you're using the illumination wire is that you can connect it to the illumination wire of your Honda using the Metra harness for your splices, but be careful! DO connect the wires that match up between the included harness and the Metra harness. Do NOT splice in a dimmer wire from your Honda. This is especially a risk if not using the Metra harness and foolishly splicing right into your car's wires. Don't do that. Especially don't connect your dimmer and illumnination wires together with the illumination wire from the deck, because doing so fries many Honda Civic dashboards. You'll actually burn circuitry so bad you'll be heading to a junkyard for a new dashboard. So use the Metra harness and only splice the *two* orange and orange-white wires--one from the deck and one to the car--together. This works. It worked great in our Accord, and no frying. It dims when the lights are on, and brightens when I turn them off. The Accord actually has diodes or some kind of circuit protection from what I hear, but do it right anyway. If you get the Metra wiring harness it makes it easy to to it right. If you have a Civic and you're not 100% certain, leave the illumination wires unconnected and just use the dimmer button on the deck. ... show more

  • Steller Sounds and Tons of Features!!
Bought this to replace a stock 2003 Ford Taurus CD/Radio. Also purchased the Metra 99-5716 Dash Kit as well. This radio is freaking amazing and will bring your existing stock radio out of the stone age. I was particularly attracted to the CD/Aux/USB/BlueTooth/Radio interfaces the Pioneer offered. After watching videos on YouTube on how to remove the Ford stock radio and using the Metra dash kit, the install is not too bad. It is time consuming to make sure that everything is wired correctly. I ended up soldering/heat shrinking all the connections to avoid any issues down the road. The wires are color coded so it is fairly straight forward. The Pioneer harness has some pretty wimpy gauge wires though but they worked fine. I installed Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 on the Ford and this radio drives the bass real deep. It sounds amazing The radio is super easy to set up and took about 30 seconds to pair with the iPhone for Bluetooth. The Pioneer also comes with a microphone to use your car's speakers as a phone! It is pretty cool to answer calls and talk without holding your phone. Also, the illumination on this radio is pretty cool. It cycles through the colors of the visible spectrum (ROYGBIV) or you can set different colors for different regions of the radio. Overall, an awesome buy for $87 bucks! You will kick yourself for not upgrading sooner! ... show more
