Looks great standing silent vigil on our porch, with its active colors, and we have had storms or rain every day this summer: Doesn’t phase it. Had to clean it more frequently than I thought as it kills so many, Including wasps. My one complaint is More bugs get stuck on the zapper part (between bars) than the dead ones that fall into the sliding tray. Alaska mosquitoes are big, loud, and numerous. I bought these right at the peak of mosquitop season. It was a little late to know how they will perform at peak times, but I’ve had them set up outside my door since they've arrived and they seem to be holding the line as my primary mosquito defense. I have bought 7 of these. 3 have stopped working ...one within the first day, one within the first week, and one a month later. However, I was able to return them. Note: don't throw away your packaging bc you must have it to make the return.

I'm not sure if these do anything in terms of killing bugs. The pull out trays that are supposed to retain dead bug bodies are always empty. It seems that the lamp grid is probably too tight to allow most bugs (mosquitoes are pretty small and might be an exception) to enter into the element. They are pretty and do add a nice ambiance to the deck area around the pool but about half of them have to be turned on every night, the other half come on automatically just after dusk. It's not a big deal but it's slightly annoying. Still, better than fueling tiki torches and safer around the pool. The poles are far too light gauge to hold the weight of the lamps. All of the poles are very flimsy and bend to some degree (see the photo of the worst one). I used a level when I installed the lamps to ensure they were plumb at the time and they are all out of plumb now-some more so than others. I'm going to try and source a better solution for the poles. Since they are hollow maybe just a wood dowel inside will add some rigidity to the poles. Bottom line: this is just an "ok" purchase. You might be better served just getting pretty solar lamps that have heavy poles since the zapper part doesn't really appear to have much (if any) effect. We'll see how the element and solar panels hold up over time. ... show more

First of all these torches look really cool. I am seriously impressed with the colors and glow it gives off. And that's about where this products awesomeness and gimmick wears off. In the unbearably hot Florida sun we are getting about 3.5 hours of use on a perfect sunny day and about 2 hour use with some clouds or rain that day. I want to say the power goes out so fast because it's getting tons of bugs but... We purchased 3 in hopes to fry some mosquitoes as I get swarmed by them once I step foot outside. While yes I have noticed a couple dead bugs in the PIC Torch (none have made it into the trays yet), it's not enough to call this effective in attracting/killing mosquitoes. Pros: 1. Looks amazing when it is working! 2. It has zapped "some" bugs 3. Multiple options to set it up (Table, Path, or as a torch) 4. Set it up and forget about it. No worries about adding to the electric bill. Cons: 1. 6 hours is false advertising, this model... if it's new will never give you close to 3.5 hours on a perfect day. 2. When power does start to get low it will start to flicker on and off every minute or so until it will stop coming on. 3. The poles it comes with are really fragile so be careful when pushing the stake into the ground. 4. Not so great at the zapping bugs part. 0 found in all 3 trays and about 9 bugs overall seen stuck in the zapper area dead over 5 days. 5. If you want to turn it on earlier than after sunset hours you will need to cover the sensor on top. ... show more

I bought two of these for mom's deck in country after a few nights of testing I pulled the bug tray open and Wow!! it zapped small flying insect. Mom loves the fake flame lighting. It works!
